Horton Technique with Ruby A. Moore is intended for experienced beginners and intermediate-level dancers from any dance background, looking to immerse themselves in Horton Technique for the first time or return to the practice after an extended break. Students who take this class can expect a warm-up grounded in the codified exercises or "fortification studies" of the Horton technique, including flat backs, primitive squats, laterals, leg swings, metatarsal presses, lunges and stretches followed by across the floor combinations that incorporate both repetition and structural challenge.

Ruby's class is an intentional blend of codified practices and improvisational opportunities, guided by prompts that move dancers through self- and general-space, as well as individualized corrective feedback. They aim to provide dancers with the tools to physicalize Horton technique efficiently and to blend it into their own technical, creative, and fitness goals. Dancers should be proficient in basic modern dance fundamentals before taking this class – and prepared for a challenge!
