A LITTLE ASK FROM ME ❤️

One of the hardest things about running for Council is trying to explain who you are as a person. You can share your resume, your experience, your education, your business background, your priorities and your ideas for Sylvan Lake... But character is a little harder to put on paper.

So I'm asking a small favour of the people who know me. 🙏

If you've been a friend, worked with me, worked for me, hired me, coached with me, done business with me, or simply crossed paths with me over the years, I'd love for you to share a little about your experience with me.

Maybe you can speak to my personality or character. Maybe you've worked alongside me and can share what I'm like as a colleague.

Maybe I've been your supervisor, manager, mentor or business coach and you can share what that experience was like.

Maybe you've hired me as a client and can speak to how I work, communicate and follow through. Or, maybe you're simply a friend who can describe the kind of person you know me to be and what attributes you think I have that would help me be a good Councillor.

If you feel comfortable, I'd love for you to comment below and share a few words. If you'd rather remain anonymous, that's completely okay too! You can email your thoughts to ruby4council@gmail.com, and I'm happy to keep your name private.

I'm hoping to compile some of these into a collection of character references and experiences from the people who actually know me, and share them throughout the campaign.

At the end of the day I want to recognize that voting for a Municipal Council is such a personal choice. You're choosing someone to represent you, speak for you, advocate for you, ask the hard questions, make responsible decisions and work hard for your community.

It’s easy to wait for something big to happen before we feel thankful, but God often shows His care through ordinary moments: a kind word, a quiet morning, a meal shared with someone we love, or the strength to get through a hard day. These small gifts may not seem important at first, but they remind us that God is present in the details of our lives.

Today, slow down long enough to notice what is good. Gratitude doesn’t mean everything is perfect. It means we recognize God’s goodness even in the middle of an ordinary day. When we thank Him for the little things, our hearts become more aware of how much He has already given.

My heart is so full! 🩷

It was so awesome to wear my stylist hat with @themabystudio this morning while we set up the Sylvan Lake Chamber Awards... Then my Editor-in-Chief of @rosemag_ca hat and be proud sponsors of the event... and then have a chance to have some great conversations with my @rubyinsylvanlake hat as part of my campaign trail...

But honestly the best hat of the night is just "Ruby"... Having a chance to dress up, dust those heels off and cheer on my friends on their nominations, celebrating their awards and enjoying a night out (finally!) with my best friend @rachelastewart22! 💃🏻🥂👠💄

A little backstory:
For the past 2.5 years, I’ve been dreaming up ROSE Magazine Canada. For the last year, my team and I have been building it from the ground up... heart, soul, late nights, big ideas, and a whole lot of belief in what millennial women are capable of.

We didn’t just want to create a magazine. We wanted to create "her". R.O.S.E. (Resilient, Original, Savvy and Empowered) isn’t just a name, it is a feeling, a movement, a best friend.

That’s exactly how our business directory was born. Every category? Built from real conversations. I asked my best friends, Women in business, Moms, doers: “What are you constantly looking for?” So we built it for you.
