I know I am biased but I have the cutest little Campaign Managers! They have been so excited to hand out buttons and deliver and install lawn signs... Their favorite game lately is "I spy... Mommy!" when we drive around town 🩶

Speaking of which... I STILL HAVE A HANDFUL OF LAWN SIGNS! 🪧

Feel free to comment or email me your address and we would love to deliver one to your doorstep! 🚙 taken in Sylvan Lake, Alberta by @rubyinsylvanlake

One of the things I have always believed in is opening doors for others whenever I can. I've been fortunate to work alongside some incredibly talented people over the years, and watching them grow their own businesses and careers has been one of the most rewarding parts of my work.

Shellie Michael, owner of Vesta Weddings, has known me for six years, first through our work in the wedding industry and eventually as a dear friend. I'm grateful for her kind words and for the opportunity to have played a small part in her professional journey.

Building a community means recognizing potential in others, sharing opportunities, and wanting to see the people around us succeed.

Thank you Shellie for your endorsement, kind words and for your support. taken in Sylvan Lake, Alberta by @rubyinsylvanlake

Since starting this campaign, one of the most meaningful parts has been meeting people in person. ❤️

I'll be sharing more about myself and my platform here on my social media, and I'm really looking forward to the Candidate Forum. But one thing I pride myself on is being a good listener, and these Meet the Candidate coffees have given me the opportunity to do just that.

To hear your questions, your frustrations, your suggestions, and also what you feel our current council is doing well and would like to see more of. All of it matters, and I want to make sure there are opportunities for you to be heard.

That's why I've made it a priority to make myself available as much as possible, with different days and times to accommodate different schedules.

This Wednesday, we're going after hours at Lakeshore Cafe! ☕🥂 Their drinks are delicious, whether you prefer coffee, something alcoholic, or a non-alcoholic option, and the staff is always so welcoming.

This Thanksgiving, my heart is especially full of gratitude for the place we get to call home. 🍂

When we first moved to Central Alberta 10 years ago, we thought we wanted somewhere between Calgary and Edmonton. Then we visited Sylvan Lake, and I just knew. This was where I wanted to raise my family.

I'm grateful for our beautiful lake, our 27 playgrounds and endless little adventures with the kids. For the NexSource Centre, where they had their first swimming lessons and where our $1 indoor playground outings have saved many a rainy day. For our Wranglers and Gulls, our incredible library, our vibrant events, and the small businesses that make this community so special. Can't forget our coffee shops! Coming from Guatemala, I'm a little particular about my coffee and there is never a lack of places to have a yummy cup of joe!☕️

But above all, I'm grateful for our people. For the business owners who introduce, connect and support one another. For the friendly good mornings along Lakeshore. For the way you welcome my parents whenever they visit from abroad, and for the incredible family programs and resources that have supported us as new parents.

I'm grateful for the opportunity to connect with so many of you through this unexpected by-election, and for the chance to keep learning about the community I love.

Sylvan Lake is a beautiful place in every season, but it's the people who make it home.

Wishing you and your families a Thanksgiving weekend filled with love, laughter and gratitude. 🧡🍗🍽️🍁 taken in Sylvan Lake, Alberta by @rubyinsylvanlake

My next Meet the Candidate coffee is next Thursday October 8 at 1pm - 2:30pm at Timber Coffee. ☕ Bring your questions and suggestions... And I guess... come celebrate my birthday with me! 😆🥳 taken in Sylvan Lake, Alberta by @rubyinsylvanlake

A little "sooooo... what have I been up to since the last election?" update. ❓

One of the things I've always believed is that building a strong community means more than talking about it. It means showing up, contributing, supporting the people and organizations doing good work, and helping turn good ideas into action.

Since the last election, I've continued to stay very involved in Sylvan Lake through my businesses and personally. Over the past year, that has included sponsoring the Sylvan Lake Chamber of Commerce's Boss Babes Conference, donating items to the Sylvan Lake Lodge Christmas celebration, supporting the Sylvan Lake RCMP Regimental Ball in support of the Urgent Care initiative, and organizing bottle drives to help restock the Sylvan Lake Little Pantry.

I've also continued to support local teams, leagues, fundraisers and community initiatives whenever I can. Sometimes that looks like a sponsorship, sometimes a donation, sometimes volunteering, and sometimes simply showing up and lending a hand.

More recently, I was accepted as a mentor for the Bridging Mothers pilot project through Family Services Central Alberta, connecting mothers with lived experience to new mothers who may be struggling during the postpartum period. As a mom of young children myself, this is something I'm especially grateful to be a part of.

On the business side, I've continued building The Maby Studio and ROSE Magazine, and I also went back to coaching with Business Works Central Alberta, where I help aspiring and new entrepreneurs launch and build their businesses. I've really enjoyed getting back into that work and being able to support other local entrepreneurs along the way.

I have not been sitting around waiting for another election. I've continued to be involved in my community, and when this opportunity unexpectedly came up, I felt I had something meaningful to contribute.

I'm excited to get out, meet more of you, hear what's important to you, and hopefully earn the opportunity to serve our community again in a different capacity. ❤️ by @rubyinsylvanlake

A little campaign housekeeping... with a side of lawn-sign fun! 🪧

The Town recently approved changes to the Election Sign Bylaw, and the new rules will be in effect for this by-election. One of the changes means there will be significantly fewer designated public locations for election signs to 5 spots.

I actually understand and support the reasoning behind it. Fewer signs around town means less visual clutter and, let's be honest, fewer opportunities for Sylvan Lake to look like a sea of campaign signs. 😂

But, it also means that good old-fashioned lawn signs are going to be more important than ever for candidate visibility and name recognition. So... if you'd like a Ruby sign on your lawn, I would LOVE to bring you one and deliver it personally! 💕

I will also have a few car magnets and some campaign pins available if you'd like to show a little Ruby support in other ways. 🙏🏻

Signs can go up after Nomination Day, so starting October 6, 2026. If you'd like a lawn sign, car magnet or pin, just comment below 👇🏻 or send me an email at Ruby4Council@gmail.com with your address and I'll make sure I have one ready for you. 📦🛻 taken in Sylvan Lake, Alberta by @rubyinsylvanlake

One of my favourite parts of campaigning last year was getting out and meeting people in our community. I hosted a couple of "Meet the Candidate" afternoons, and I met some truly wonderful people, had great conversations, and received so many thoughtful suggestions and ideas.

So, for this campaign, I wanted to make connecting with residents a priority again. From now until Election Day, I'll be hosting a Meet the Candidate each week, with different days and times to hopefully make it a little easier for people with different schedules to stop by.

There's no formal agenda and no need to buy anything. Just pop in, say hello, ask a question, share an idea, or have a chat whenever you can.

Oh, and as a coffee lover myself, I have to admit I'm not exactly upset about having an excuse to visit some of my favourite coffee shops around town and try all the delicious fall menus! ☕️😉

Here's the full schedule. I'll be sharing more details about each date as we get closer.

I'd love to see you there! taken in Sylvan Lake, Alberta by @rubyinsylvanlake
