Life has a way of humbling you when you least expect it. Breaking my ankle and undergoing surgery this summer has been one of the hardest and most challenging experiences of my life. No one prepares you for the long recovery and the uncertainty that follows. I’m thankful for the people who have held me up (literally) along the way and made the long recovery feel a little less lonely.
Grateful for the progress so far, and hopeful for what’s still ahead.
Health really is wealth. Feeling thankful for what truly matters, and wishing you all a Merry Christmas 🤍 by @rubyoh

I wasn’t going to post this, but I’ve been sad ever since it happened and it triggered something deep in me.
It was enough to ruin my weekend, and maybe sharing it is the only way to let it go.
The other day, someone looked at me and said:
“You’ve gained weight, right?”
Then they followed up with:
“Are you pregnant?”
…while I was sitting there, in a summer dress, drinking a beer.
I smiled. Swallowed my tears.
Managed to say, “Would I be drinking if I were pregnant?”
Then I left.
Quietly. Feeling small.
Here’s the truth: I’ve been working really hard on my health, on my body, and on my mind.
I’m doing everything I can, and it takes time.
And in the meantime, I still deserve to wear a summer dress in a heatwave
without having to brace for comments about my body.
I deserve to feel the sun on my shoulders
without the weight of someone else’s judgment.
This isn’t about one person, or one comment.
And no I’m not looking for compliments or reassurance.
It’s about how casually people feel entitled to speak about women’s bodies.
✨ Don’t comment on people’s bodies. Ever.
Not their weight.
Not their size.
Not their shape.
Not even if you think it’s a compliment.
You never know what someone is carrying or how hard they’ve fought just to show up.

These photos are from a day a couple of weeks ago when I felt incredibly self-conscious.
I had “nothing to wear.” My body felt unfamiliar.
But my friends hyped me up, and what started as discomfort turned into a cute little photo moment.
And I’m proud I showed up.
It took everything in me to get out the door.
I even thought about cancelling.
But I told myself:
I can’t let my own thoughts keep me from living.
Not from laughing. Not from feeling the sun on my skin.
Not from enjoying summer while it’s here.
Because I already carry enough intrusive thoughts, body image struggles, old and new insecurities.
So please…
just let me enjoy my summer in peace. by @rubyoh
