Book Review:

Mac Meyers Needs Me

Some things I loved about this book are:
-A mature college age group of friends that create a found family
-The male main character, Mac is a top tier dirty talking green flag and a hockey player in a slump
-The female main character, Fee is mature beyond her years, a quiet artist and her creativity flourishes while they are dating
-The main characters are slow burning and use an over or under (clothing) re consent for their playtime and it’s incinerating
-Part of the storyline is reading spicy fanfic stories written by one of their friends wow! There is spice within the spice.
-Happiness in seeing some OG characters from other stories.
-Books that are part of an interconnected series that may be read as a standalone or a place to start.

I loved it so much I doing a re-read via the audio. Narrators - Kat Auden and Alex Kidd.

Book Review: Devil by Sierra Simone

Oh my heart!

The main characters are people whose lives have been upended by devastating events in their childhood. This story is about their survival.

She’s older, he’s younger, she’s a visiting artist for a faith based college, and he is her student. They are also insanely attracted to one another.

Birdie Cooper and Ryan Bell are made for one another. On the outside it doesn’t seem possible. It feels like their souls are connected, but the emotional baggage is colossal. Ryan Bell throws away all the rules. Birdie Cooper lets her guard down. He is not a good person. She is virtuous. Together they are so messy. The result is a new one of my favorite books of all time.

The storyline intertwines devotion, passion, faith, self doubt, family, service to others, attraction, depravity and obsession in darkness and in the end, there is light.

The writing is superb. This is book four in the interconnected Priest series. It covers the youngest brother in a family. I was so touched by the Afterword that gives insight into the storyline.

This book includes themes that you should check out the author’s notes before reading.

Book review:

The Muse by Jewel E Ann

Being a muse is more difficult than one expects. Flynn is naively natural at it. In a life of challenges he is resilient and uniquely him. He notices June from across the room and needs to meet her. They are an unlikely pair from opposite pasts and they are perfectly imperfect together.

I’m a huge fan of this author. This book has been on my to read list since she announced it.

I love the story so much! It made me smile, laugh out loud and it made my eyes leak. It captured my interest from the first chapter to the last sentence. Strong characters all around. There are fun connections to other books, but is great to read as a standalone.

April book review: Color His World by Taryn Quinn.

First book in a new series and I loved it! Small town, lake house, a bit of a suspense, famous author, fun local artist and adopted pup that seems to to make sure the two get together.

April book review, Crooked by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward

She’s a screenwriter living in LA. He’s a private personal security guy. He works for her Dad, a mafia boss. He is sent to keep her safe. She’s annoyed with having him around and it makes for fun banter. There is a suspense element with the need for a bodyguard and I had record scratch moment with a surprise. I loved the story!

Book Review:

What Lasts by J. Bengtsson

What Lasts was a much anticipated book for me and it was so much more than I anticipated! I love, love, loved it!

Michelle and Scott are an opposites attract, rich girl, surfer guy, classical pianist, punk rocker, luxury car, beat up pick up truck kind of couple. Their chemistry, love and willingness to give up what they know make them stronger. I laughed out loud through out the story. My eyes leaked so many times I kept the tissues handy. There is a heartwarming happy ever after.

What Lasts is a prequel. You could read it as a standalone, but the rest is so good.

Cake is an interconnected series about an everyday family and how they manage a distressing life changing event. Don’t let that scare you away. The story really shows how people endure and withstand to end up stronger than before. What Lasts gives readers the background of a young couple living some challenges while raising a family.

The rest of the books are about how each of the kids lived through their view of the event and have their own HEAs.

I had my favorite characters before but Scott and Michelle were elevated to my new favorites hearing their back story.

Book Review:

Please Don’t Go (The Midnight Strike # 1) by E Salavador

If you love angst this one may be for you. Mature college age main characters. Both are competitive athletes and are working through traumatic events in their lives. Warning there may be tears as well as smiles with an awesome friend group.
