Happy release day to ✨Rhinebeck Raglan✨

Tori first approached me with this pattern when I was planning to use this future handspun for Mercer. Alas, Tori was right and the handspun turned out absolutely perfect for Rhinebeck Raglan.

If you were at Lambtown this last weekend, you would’ve seen a sneak peek of the pattern hehe. I spun a SUPER plump and bouncy 3-ply from pin-drafted roving I had milled. The sheep breed is Polypay and wow does it come alive in yarn form. In roving form, it is so unassuming - not super soft, some VM, and just a creamy white color. Anyways, I’ll be brining some of the pin drafted roving to A Woolen Affair for everyone to enjoy!!

Happy release day to the ✨Mercer Pullover✨

After a last minute yarn change, I ended up deciding on using two new bases in a new colorway I’m debuting at upcoming fiber festivals!! I have thoroughly enjoyed knitting Mercer, the speed it knit up, and how easy it is to just throw on every day. Tori’s patterns are always so wearable in every day life and I love it!

Four years and one day into friendship 📆

Happy release day to ✨Shoreline Vest✨

This is such a fun and cute piece for layering all year round and not to mention how fast it knits up. I think my favorite features are the purl columns along the edges and sides, and the eyelet finishings. They create some visual interest that makes the piece look so well-rounded. Please enjoy a series of awkward me taking FO pics 😅.

✨Seashore Cami✨ finally out in the world! It is a fun and fast pointelle-esque cami that is perfect for elevating a casual look. I knit mine in a new base I’ll be debuting at the upcoming fall festivals. It feels like butter and feels amazing next to skin.

My first finished spin of TDF! 🚴‍♀️ I started this spin on July 5 and finished spinning and plying on July 12. Then, I washed and finished yesterday (July 13).

As some of you know, I had some fleeces processed locally to be milled into pin drafted roving. I had the opportunity to purchase some Polypay fleeces, which I feel is often an overlooked breed. I am a sucker for mixed breed sheep for fleeces so Polypay, being a mishmash of breeds, perfectly scratches this itch.

Upon first touch, the fleece and roving did not stand out to me. But, as soon as I started spinning it, the wool just sang. It drafted perfectly and spun up so fast. This was also my first spin on my new wheel from @hansencraftsminispinner and the combo of this wool and wheel was so pleasant to work with. The huge bobbins also helped with keeping the flow going without needing to change bobbins often.

I spun up this sweater quantity for @toriknitsnyc ‘s newest pattern in testing - Mercer Pullover! I thought this would be a perfect pattern to try out my Polypay with. I also hope to bring some to the upcoming fiber festivals I’ll be vending up!! Stay tuned!!

📣 Vendor Spotlight

🌟My business was born out of necessity for myself and out of the joy of experimenting with color. I couldn’t find the right colors to suit my skin tone at the time and decided I would just dye it myself. I strive to develop color ways that can suit a large majority of people in unique bases that aren’t always offered.

🌟Over the years, I’ve ventured into processing fleeces at home to create beautiful batts that are a joy to spin and have ventured into the world of weaving to utilize and showcase the amazing wools in different formats.

🌟Today the shop features hand-dyed yarn on non-superwash bases, hand-processed batts from raw fleeces, locally curated rovings milled in California from small farms around the U.S., playful “batt butts”, handmade stitch markers, and handwoven project bags. Each product highlights breed-specific fibers and small-batch artistry.

🌟Outside of Rui Knits, a one-woman business, I enjoy bouldering, gardening, travelling!

TGIF and happy belated release to Long Line Pullover ✨

I’ve been drowning with work this past year so maximizing what little time I have to knit and work on my projects has been my goal lately. I’m also in the midst of prepping for fall festivals and sampling new and exciting bases!! I knit my Long Line using one of these bases - a merino and mohair blend yarn. You essentially get a 2-in-1 yarn - smooth and fluffy! I’m still thinking of a fun name for it, so if you have any suggestions please lmk 👀.

I am so excited to be welcoming the ✨Salt Hoodie 2.0✨!!!
Let me just rave about this for a second 😂. I’ve been wanting to knit the Salt Hoodie since it came out a while ago, so I had to jump at the opportunity to test knit 2.0. As always, Inês is a magician with construction and design. Every detail is so thoughtfully executed, resulting in a well-fitting garment.

Mine currently stands zipper-less because the original zipper I got was too heavy duty so my zipper is on the way!
