“If you love something, get a tattoo of it” - me

Got this in July 2023 from the lovely @rainflowertatu 🤍🏺 by @rumbird

An interesting and thought-provoking talk about Mingei pottery Theo and @henrymarcdesignstudio . Pottery of the people. What makes something “of the people”? How much of this style is defined by its origins in functionality and subdued palette…. When you obtain noterietay or step into the “elite” scene, can you achieve Mingei? And yet the most famous Mingei potters seem to have both. All questions people pondered during the lecture.
.
Likely the last time I’ll be in the studio for a while. I ripped off my shelf label, the spot right in the middle of the back room is now someone else’s to claim. Some final pieces will remain floating around the studio, and I’ll come back for them! 🏺Thanks a million times over to this community and to my second home in Santa Fe. by @rumbird

Only a few days left to enter this easy to win fundraiser!

Clay for a Cause is a fundraiser put on by Potters who care about the state of the world. We all donate a piece to be sent to a winner, and the way to enter is just to donate to one of the causes that we as a community voted on. This fundraiser’s causes are: ACLU, Planned Parenthood, the Trevor Project, NILC, NPR, and PBS.

All you have to do is donate $10 or more to be entered and every $10 gets you another entry. The chances of winning are very good because we have 150 prizes !!!

To find the entry form which has all the information, just go to the @potters_rise_up bio OR scan the QR code, OR simply type in www.tinyurl.com/clayforacause.

Every day, we post 10 to 15 pictures of the pots that have been donated. Please share this with your family and friends, and participate yourself if you can! Let’s make our Potters proud, and do something good for the world! #clayforacause #pottersriseup #artasresistance #riseup #potteryfundraiser

The latest set of glaze layering test combos for Green River’s cone ten glazes. I’m liking the Black & White over Tenmoku.
Tenomku over buttermilk is also a winner! Which I’ve done before on some bowls. I like the gold coloring. If anyone wants to know the specifics of one of these combos, leave a comment and i’ll reply with it! Yes, butt = buttermilk.

No pottery for two weeks while I travel abroad. Been feeling grateful for a good amount of time in the studio lately, glazing, making, being with nice people. Enjoy!
