Ch-ch-ch-CHIA! But cover the world in it. 🌎🌱 This was such a cool, eco-friendly up-cycle that both my 6 year old and 2 year old took part in. Using a play tray cover, my oldest traced a circle on cardboard, which we then cut out and painted using non-toxic, food-grade watercolors. The various shades of blue represent water. We then rolled out organic cotton balls and placed them on the cardboard. This represented land and where the chia seeds would sprout from. With daily spritzing of water and sunshine, the chia seeds started sprouting by day 2! And what you see in this reel is 7 days of growth.

Got a little car lover who needs to work on scissor skills? ✂️ Grab this FREE PRINTABLE (linked on my website). My 4 year old loves doing scissor practice & this was a cute way to continue working on his fine motor skills!

Cut out the roads & a little car (left handed, use the cars facing right). Tape the car to the top of the scissors. Make sure the tape doesn’t impede on the ability to cut.

Tip: cutting the road strips in half makes it easier until your little is ready to cut longer strips.

Not pictured: picking up 253,263 toys, vacuuming spilled sensory filler, forever cooking, laundry, homework for my 6 yo, potty training the 2 yo, play date. 🥴 And to think up until last month I was doing this while working full-time in corporate as well. No wonder why I’m in a midlife non-crisis. 🤣

Also, I just realized I’d have less laundry if I didn’t change my outfit 5 times a day. 🥴

This kit comes with everything needed to work on skills like scooping, pouring, counting, measuring, identification and playing in harmony after they spent the first 5 minutes fighting over sharks. You bet I ate that whole watermelon so the kids could play with the rinds. It was delicious! 😋 The empty halves made great bowls for watermelon inspired fizzy play. And the kids discovered that they float!

Recipe for watermelon bubbly powder:
3:1 ratio of baking soda to citric acid
If you want to make it red, color the baking soda first with water + food color or child labor free mica powder (comment ETHICAL MICA for a list of my favorite vetted brands) or watermelon juice! Add the citric acid AFTER the baking soda has dried and that’s it! Use water to make the mixture bubbly!

Easy water play for little Paleontologists, ages 2, 6 & 8! This sensory bin was a hit with all of them as they searched for the coolest surprises —raw minerals, tumbled gems, fossils and lots of shark teeth! The older kids helped each other find specific fossils & minerals while my youngest got excited to find rocks and pour water.

Save all your old, broken, & little pieces of chalk! This activity is sooo satisfying. Like a wrecking room, but cute enough for 2 year olds and engaging enough for 6 & 8 year olds. And 41 year olds because you know I sat there with my kids smashing chalk to my heart’s content. 🙋🏻‍♀️😄

We started doing this on black construction paper but the chalk marks were so much more vibrant on pavement. We even brought out spray bottles to mix things up while we smashed.

This one was definitely a cool mom activity. by @rumbleandrour

You & your littles love bubbles but the anemic, store-bought wands leaves something to be desired. So we made these from sticks and copper wire! The kids loved the bigger wands so they could make giant bubbles.

Here’s the recipe we used for bubble solution:

2 cups warm water
1/3 cup Dawn (blue) dish soap
1/4 cup karo syrup

Mix gently. We also tested out sugar (2 tablespoons) as a substitute for Karo/corn syrup & that worked great too! by @rumbleandrour
