A lot of what we do doesn't always sprout immediately but structure is always being built.

Over the past period, we've been refining systems, strengthening our foundation and deependimt how we approach storytelling, production and creative development*

A few months ago, our founder, Ranti Femi Oyekola, participated in an Artifact Biography workshop facilitated by the Goethe Institut Nigeria. One idea from that experience has continued to shape our work: everyday objects hold stories about the people, communities, values, and histories connected to them.

That insight inspired an ongoing research series exploring African culture, history, material heritage, and storytelling through film and writing.

This research is now informing Gourd of the Sky, an animated short film currently in development. More than an animation, it is an exploration of memory, identity, community, and the stories we choose to preserve and pass on. It also marks the beginning of a broader body of work spanning research, archival documentation, educational storytelling, and creative resources that encourage conversations about African heritage across generations.

At Run It, we believe storytelling is one of the most powerful ways to preserve culture and shape the future. Research is an essential part of that process.

"As the producer of Bolaji’s Balls (Le Pari de Bolaji), one of the questions I’ve been asked the most is: “Why that title?”

In this video, I share some of the thinking behind the title, the story, and the conversations that inspired this film. While it doesn’t capture everything I feel about the project, it offers a glimpse into why I believe this story matters.

At its heart, Bolaji’s Balls (Le Pari de Bolaji) is not just a film about prostate cancer. It is about confronting difficult realities, navigating fear, challenging misinformation, and finding the courage to make decisions when life takes an unexpected turn. It explores what happens when a person is faced with news that could change everything—and the strength it takes to determine what comes next.

Stories have the power to inform, provoke thought, and create empathy. This film was made with that purpose in mind, and I hope it encourages more open conversations about men’s health, awareness, and the importance of seeking the right information.
