Trackr 🐾 tried to flip us quite a few times. 💦 We’re both learning. 🤣 It’s gonna be a good summer! ☀️

The goal is standup paddling with my dog on board! 🎯

Waters still frigid, can’t wait to ditch the wetsuit. 🥶 👎

Trackr is living his best dog life at the fishing lodge in Alaska! 🐾 He’s bravely checking off alot of bucket list items; Floatplane Flying, Boating, Berry Picking, River Swimming.💦 We’re working on recall; when Dads plane lands he wants to swim out and meet him!♥️

Anchored the float plane on Alagnak for a few hours and got into some serious chum chaos! The bucks were really feisty, had to quickly adjust my drag. River was shallow enough for me to wade in the current- soft, flat, sandy bottom.

Recovering from surgery this week, I floated the Kulik. Can’t think of a better place to respite.

Targeted bows 🌈 yesterday-landed at the lake and hiked a mile in, sight fishing this amazing creek as we explored!

Pretty cool to target a particular Rainbow amongst hundreds of Sockeye and skillfully pass the bead close enough to entice but not startle the elusive fish or snag a Sockeye.😎

I recognized soon into our journey that my 8wt was a bit clunky for the small water with virtually no bank and overhanging trees.💦 Note to Self: work on your roll cast‼️

The 3 other people in my group; Perk, Simon and Nellie- all had light 6wt rods- definitely the better equipment for our adventure.🎣

🐻While the bears had moved to the next creek over, they left thousands of half eaten Salmon behind. We slid around on the dead carcass’ while maneuvering to keep our balance on the already slippery rocks.

Special thanks to Alaska Sportsman’s Lodge, Orvis and Trout Unlimited Alaska, for letting me tag along on this awesome trip!♥️

Weather was great through the pass to the coast ….landed just as the tide was coming in, fished the snot out of silvers till noon and departed before the tide stranded us high and dry.

We had 2 🦅🦅eagles nesting beside us, 3 🦭🦭🦭seals swimming around at our feet and a lone 🐻 bear we gave our spot to just before lunch.

✔️Landed at Crosswind Lake -820Ft High Tundra
✔️Unloaded Rafts, Rods, Lunches
✔️Packed Gear A Short Hike - Maybe 500 Yards
✔️Headed Down An Impressive 20FT Ridge
✔️Put In Below The Confluence Of Moraine And Funnel
✔️Angling Level: Beginner, Intermediate

As raft trips go, this is one of my favorites. 💦🐻🎣
Trophy rainbows aside, it’s a pristine creek that runs through glacial rock, creating a beautiful canyon of sorts with very steep banks and shear rock croppings. There are ample sand bars to jump out and fish along the float.🎣This was probably the first time I’ve taken focus away from fishing to capture footage of the bears along this stretch of water.🐻♥️
