🌊 RUN WEST WEATHER UPDATE 🌊

Following the latest assessment of the weather and conditions along the route, we’ve made the decision to unfortunately cancel the Guppy and move the remaining races back by two hours. The safety and comfort of our guppies and runners is a priority.

The Olifants 21km will now start at 09h30, with shuttles running from 07h30 to Papendorp. Meet at T-block Strandfontein campsite (Race Village)
Shuttle Link in Bio.

The Euphorbia 10km will now start at 10h00, from the NSRI station. No changes to start location.

Prizegiving will take place at 12h00 at Fryer’s Cove.

We know there are a few moving parts here, and we appreciate your patience as we make the safest call possible for everyone involved.

A New Light' is a short insight into the emotional journey over the past 5 years behind NEST Environmental Education. The inspiration, the people, and the West Coast landscape that helped shape the vision.

The journey inspired by local activists Suzanne du Plessis and Peter Owies, whose work and commitment to the West Coast helped shape the thinking behind what NEST has become.

From those early inspirations to building NEST into a meaningful environmental education curriculum for rural West Coast communities, this is a glimpse into where it all came from and why it matters.

And none of this happens alone. A genuine thank you to every partner who believes in what we're trying to build, and every runner and member of our community who continues to support Run West. Your support gives these ideas the opportunity to grow into something real and lasting with true outcomes.

NEST began its first year of environmental education in Doringbaai in March 2026, founded by and operating under Run West.

This is the story behind the story.

WE’RE STILL TAKING IT ALL IN. ❤️

What a weekend.
2026 threw a lot at us. Weather, changes, moving things around, making difficult calls and sometimes just figuring it out as we went.

But through all of it, you guys were incredible.
You showed up. You trusted us. You adapted. You kept smiling. You kept the energy alive.

And honestly, that means the world to us.
Because somewhere along the way, Run West stopped feeling like just an event.
It has become a group of people who somehow found each other through a shared love of wild places, running, adventure, community and wanting to be part of something that feels real.
A little messy sometimes. A little unpredictable. But real.

Thank you to every runner, volunteer, crew member, photographer, supporter and partner who helped make this year what it was.

Thank you for understanding why we make the decisions we do, especially when things don’t go exactly to plan.

Thank you for giving us the freedom to learn how to help protect the place we get to call home.

And thank you for bringing your energy, your kindness and your passion.

We genuinely couldn’t do this without you.
We hope you’ll come back and do it all again with us next year.

Run Wet (not a typo) 2026! 🌧️ What an incredible journey this was, to join @runwestsa & friends up the west coast! Through the rain & thunder & lightening we still kept our spirits high as we enjoyed connecting with one another 🏕️ as well as showing our support for this amazing cause! 🌺
These are just some of the moments we managed to capture, we did a behind the scenes workshop with a local community to increase their skills in bread baking and donated some much needed appliances to further help their business along 🥖
Also, a big round of applause to our amazing team, who ALL took part in either the 10km or 21km race along the coast 🏃🏻‍♀️👏🏻
