From sleeping in the studio to creating some of the most recognisable records in 3-Stepโ€ฆ what a journey for JAZZWRLD & Thukuthela โ™ฅ๏ธ๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ฆ @_jazzworx @thukuthela_szn Their story is one of friendship, perseverance and a shared love for music. From the struggles that inspired โ€œVukaโ€ to the success of โ€œUzizwa Kanjanโ€ and their project The Most Wanted, theyโ€™ve built something truly special together. And what makes their sound even more beautiful is the musical heritage behind it. Drawing inspiration from mbaqanga, disco and legends like the Mahotella Queens and Mfazโ€™Omnyama, theyโ€™ve found a way to bring those influences into a new generation of South African dance music ๐Ÿฅ JAZZWRLDโ€™s soulful production and Thukuthelaโ€™s incredible voice complement each other so beautifully. Together, theyโ€™re showing just how much emotion, storytelling and musical depth can live within 3-Step. Such an important contribution to the evolution of the sound ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ’ Which JAZZWRLD & Thukuthela record has your heart? ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿฝ Vuka Interview ref. You hear โ€œDlala Thukzin!โ€ and you already know what time it is ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ฆ @dlalathukzin From gqom and Afro-Tech to amapiano and 3-Step, Dlala Thukzin brings Durban DNA into everything he touches Driving percussion. Log drums. Big vocals. Dancefloor energy. But most importantly โ€” identity. Heโ€™s shown us that you donโ€™t have to lose where you come from to push a new sound forward. Bring your culture, bring your influences and make them unmistakably yours A signature sound gets you recognisedโ€ฆ but a signature identity gets you remembered โค๏ธโ€๐Ÿ”ฅ ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ’ DLALA THUKZIN โ†’ SIGNATURE SOUND, SIGNATURE IDENTITY Whatโ€™s your favourite Dlala Thukzin record? ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿฝ #DlalaThukzin #3Step #Gqom #SouthAfricanMusic #AfroHouse by @rush.hour.xo

Have you heard Smoothie? ๐Ÿฅค๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ฆ Dlala Thukzin @dlalathukzin & Funky Qla @funky_qla have been building together for years โ€” from Summer Banger in 2021, to 031 Studio Camp, Ama Gear, and their continued exploration of gqom, Afro House, Afro Tech and 3-Step. Then came โ€œSmoothieโ€ on Dlalaโ€™s MAYVIS album in 2025 - but did you notice the track stood out? This was the first time the name appeared, and perhaps as more of an ideaโ€ฆ Now, in 2026, that journey has evolved into a six-track โ€œSmoothieโ€ project โ€” and the beginning of what feels like a new chapter in South African dance music. Two producers rooted in gqom, constantly evolving, experimenting and finding new ways to push the sound forward โ™ฅ๏ธ๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ฆ ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ’ What do you hear in Smoothie? ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿฝ #southafricanmusic #gqom #afrohouse #afrotech #3step by @rush.hour.xo

Funky Qlaโ€™s story is one of evolution โ™ฅ๏ธ @funky_qla From breaking through Durbanโ€™s gqom scene to 3-Step, Funky Qla has shown us just how seamlessly his sound can evolve while keeping that unmistakable gqom DNA ๐Ÿฅ๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ฆ And one creative partnership has been part of that journey for years: @dlalathukzin โœจ From their Summer Banger project in 2021, to 031 Studio Camp, Ama Gear and more in 3-Step, that partnership has continued to evolve โ€” now bringing us Smoothie! ๐Ÿฅค Funky Qlaโ€™s ability to carry his musical roots into new spaces is such a special part of his contribution to the 3-Step story The sound keeps evolving, but you can still hear where he comes from - and itโ€™s unmistakably Funky Qla in every record ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ’ FUNKY QLA โ†’ GQOM DNA Whatโ€™s your favourite Funky Qla track? ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿฝ #funkyqla #3step #gqom #dlalathukzin #southafricanmusic by @rush.hour.xo

When does a remix stop being the remixโ€ฆ and become THE track? ๐Ÿ‘€ (@djkentsa & @thakzin01) ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ’ DJ Kentโ€™s Horns In The Sun already had the DNA โ€” the horns, the soul, the melody Then Thakzin took that DNA and built a completely different world around it ๐Ÿฅ What makes the story even better? DJ Kent was one of Thakzinโ€™s musical heroes growing up. Heโ€™s spoken about listening to Kentโ€™s mixes religiously โ€” years before creating the remix of one of his records One generation of South African house inspiring the next โ™ฅ๏ธ๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ฆ And somewhere along the way, the remix became the version many of us recognise first So be honestโ€ฆ Which Horns In The Sun did YOU know first โ€” the original or Thakzinโ€™s remix? ๐Ÿ‘€ Track ID: DJ Kent ft. Some producers make records. Others help give a movement its identity. ๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ฆ Thakzinโ€™s contribution to 3-Step goes FAR beyond a missing kick - he took the foundations of Afro House and blended them with amapianoโ€™s swing, deep musicality and African percussion, helping crystallise a rhythm into a sound with its own identity. From โ€œLibaleleโ€ to โ€œThe Magnificent Dance,โ€ and beyond, his fingerprints are all over the movement we know as 3-step! He didnโ€™t just contribute tracks to 3-Step, he helped us recognise what 3-Step could sound and feel like. ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ’ @thakzin01 #Thakzin #3Step #AfroHouse #SouthAfricanMusic #AfricanElectronicMusic by @rush.hour.xo
