Im 51. Mostly white. Im a DJ of African music for years, because im CRAZY about it. Last night i went to see Juls Baby, one of my favorite producers and the one I played 572 times in my sets. I didnt vibe with Juls and Larizzke set, so i stayed at the other room where they were playing #Amapiano #3step #gqom and #afrohouse . I was one of not-many white people, probably the oldest in the whole 500+ crowd, and i danced my ass off for 4.5 hours straight, without any substances. My body is sore but grateful. I felt ECSTATIC but also sad and frustrated, because i live on the tropical paradise and party island of Ko pha ngan, but they play mostly techno, psy trance, tech house and boring kinds of house music. Very few know or play Afro club music there. I dont have anywhere to dance as i did last night. I organized the only regular African party on the island but struggled to get traction, because the expat community doesnt like Afro music, and tourists are transient. I wish hope and pray that i could bring the gift of Afro music to my adopted home island. If you have any advise, im listening. Thank you @kmens_ @rush.hour.xo and @dlala.fm @djshyshyxo @shellings.x For playing the music i love so much. Next week - ADE festival for more dancing to Afro club music, and to play an Afro Ecstatic dance journey. #afrodj
