🗿📡🪐 新作EP『Ancient / Future』が、東京・神宮前の @glocal_records にて販売中。 GLOCAL RECORDSは2011年に原宿でオープン。オーナーの箕輪弦太さん自身の言葉を借りれば、惹かれるのは「最新のダンスミュージックとワールドミュージックがぶつかる、その交差点」。ジャングル、ドラムンベース、ブレイクビーツ、テクノ、ハウスから、レゲエ、ワールド、ジャズまで、それぞれのジャンルのルーツを捉えながら、独自の視点で中古盤を中心にセレクトしている。 「GLOCAL」という名前そのものが、グローバルとローカル、異なる場所から生まれた音が交わる店の姿勢を表している。 GLOCAL RECORDS 東京都渋谷区神宮前5-23-5 サンキエームA 3F 〒150-0001 New EP Ancient / Future is available now in Tokyo at @glocal_records. GLOCAL RECORDS opened in Harajuku in 2011. In the words of owner Genta Minowa, what interests him is “where the latest dance music and world music collide. That intersection.” The store moves from jungle, drum & bass, breakbeats, techno and house to reggae, world music and jazz, with a selection focused primarily on second-hand records and an ear toward the roots of each genre. The name “GLOCAL” itself reflects the philosophy of the shop: a meeting point between global and local, and between sounds that have emerged from different places. 🇮🇳🛕⚡️ The Celestial Chariot (Pushpaka Vimana), northern India. c. 1650. The painting depicts Rama, Sita and Lakshmana travelling from Lanka aboard the Pushpaka Vimana, the celestial flying palace described in the Ramayana. In ancient Sanskrit literature, vimānas are celestial vehicles, chariots or flying palaces used by gods, supernatural beings, kings and heroes to travel through the heavens. Across different texts and later artistic traditions, vimānas take many forms; chariots, palaces, temples and immense structures moving through the heavens, with some described as travelling according to the will or desire of their occupants. They appear throughout Hindu epic and mythological traditions, including the Ramayana and Mahābhārata, the two great Sanskrit epics of ancient India. Both developed through centuries of oral and literary tradition, taking shape between approximately 500 BCE and 400 CE, while drawing upon stories and traditions whose origins may reach considerably further into the ancient past. Better late than never, we’re incredibly excited to finally announce a very special upcoming release on our label. One of the most rewarding aspects of music is its ability to create meaningful connections across borders and cultures. Through that shared language, we connected with @rush2theunknown , a Japan- and New Zealand-based duo with roots in the foundation New Zealand jungle / drum & bass scene, and it’s a true privilege to now be releasing their music. Ancient / Future is a journey through time, influence, and emotion. Drawing from the duo’s diverse musical backgrounds and inspirations, the EP bridges ancient echoes with futuristic sound design, balancing antediluvian nostalgia and far-future energy in equal measure.
