This year marks Rushbond’s 40th anniversary; an incredible four decades of creating and investing in distinctive buildings and places across Yorkshire.

To celebrate this huge milestone, we wanted to do something special to support one of Leeds’s (and our) most invaluable and much-loved gems – @meanwoodfarm.

Located over 24 acres of green space just outside Leeds City Centre, MVUF is a charity-run community resource that delivers everything from supporting adults with learning disabilities and providing environmental education for local schools, to running holiday playschemes and supplying locally grown produce.

As well as taking on a special Rushbond team 20-mile sponsored walk later this week, we’re inviting people to support the farm by:

🔹 Donating cash or funds via a QR code on a specially commissioned Alpaca now in situ at the Leeds Corn Exchange (swipe left ⬅)
🔹Offering volunteer hours on the farm for a whole host of fun and fulfilling activities – more info in stories

By giving either your time or funds, you can join us in helping to ensure the Farm can continue and expand its invaluable work for many years to come.

TRIVIAL PURSUIT takeover celebrates Leeds’s heritage...

The creative minds at @leedsbid and @welcometoleeds have done it again - transforming Leeds city centre into a magical, immersive trail.

Following on last year’s Wonderland Awaits and 2024’s world first Monopoly takeover – this year, Trivial Pursuit celebrates 400 years since Leeds was granted its royal charter.

You can now experience an interactive version of @hasbro’s iconic board game, testing your knowledge on the stories, achievements and surprising facts that have shaped Leeds over four centuries.

We’re proud that once again, the iconic @leedscornex is one of six key locations on the trail and is home to the Arts & Literature category (swipe left ⬅)

This week, @leedscornex hosts an exhibition of work by the 12 winners of @leedscivictrust’s Leeds400 Art Competition.

The competition marks the 400th anniversary of the Leeds charter being signed.

The exhibition features six artworks from the under 16s category, who responded to the theme ‘How would you like Leeds to be in 400 years?’ - and six from the over 16s category, themed ‘Prospects of Leeds’.

Rushbond’s own Georgina Maud was a judge on the selection panel – and can confirm the finalists wowed the judges with their beautiful and varied artistic interpretations.

Well done to all the winners. 👏

📍The exhibition runs until Friday 17th July.

Back to its best ✨

The Cornucopia mural in Leeds has been carefully restored, conserving one of the city’s most recognised public artworks for future generations to enjoy.

Originally unveiled in 1990, the striking mural by the late Graeme Willson, located next to @leedscornex, celebrates Leeds’s rich mercantile heritage and has been a much-loved landmark for generations.

We’re proud to have funded its restoration alongside @leedscouncil with support from @LeedsCivicTrust and @blue.rinse.vintage, helping preserve an important piece of the city’s cultural heritage for years to come.

Thank you to @replete_art for sensitively carrying out this specialist work.

📣Leeds400 Art Competition judge announcement!

🎉We are delighted to have Georgina Maud on our panel of judges for our Leeds400 Art Competition.

Georgina Maud is the Arts and Creative Development Lead at Rushbond PLC, who are Gold Corporate members of Leeds Civic Trust. Georgina was also a judge for our Leeds 2023 Art Competition.

Georgina brings her creative skills to her work at Rushbond, managing properties such as Leeds Corn Exchange. Georgina has worked in both the public and private sectors in the art world, together with time spent in the creative department of a major London and New York hotel company.

Another milestone in the regeneration of Wakefield’s Civic Quarter 👏

Plans have been approved to transform the former Coroner’s Court into a new creative hub for makers, artists and small businesses.

With thanks to our architecture partner @groupginger, these CGI images give a sense of our plans for the former Coroner’s Court – which we’ve named 71 Northgate.

Alongside the restoration of the historic Court House and new homes delivered by our residential arm, @fallowdalehomes, already welcoming residents at the @woodstreetcollection, the Civic Quarter is continuing to evolve into a modern city centre neighbourhood rooted in heritage, creativity and community.

The Becketts in Meanwood has become a popular destination for Leeds foodies and we’re excited that independent burger chain, @burgerism, is coming to the neighbourhood.

Set to open this summer, the Manchester-based business - known for its mouth-watering smash patties - has taken a unit nestled between established eateries @zucco_meanwood (recently voted one of the top ten restaurants in the region by the @theyorkshirepost) and @meanwoodtavern.

Leeds’s reputation as a foodie-destination is long-established, with neighbourhoods like Meanwood offering ever more reasons to eat out.

Burgerism joining The Becketts is fantastic news not only for local residents, but also for the wider community.

Formerly a pub, The Becketts was carefully redeveloped and is now a mix of apartments and commercial uses, once again at the heart of community life in Meanwood village centre.
