I’ve been selling real estate in Pitt Meadows and Maple Ridge for more than 17 years, and I still love it as much as I did on day one. I was born and raised in Maple Ridge, so when I tell a client what a street, a school catchment, or a commute is really like, it’s not something I looked up, it’s something I know.

I co-founded The Macnabs Team back in 2012, and since then I’ve built my business almost entirely on referrals. That only happens if you actually take care of people, so that’s what I focus on: telling clients the truth about a home even when it’s not what they want to hear, staying reachable when questions come up (they always do), and not disappearing the moment an offer is accepted.

Before real estate, I spent time in construction and design, and that background still shapes how I look at a house, I can usually tell what’s cosmetic and what’s structural, and I pass that read on to my clients so they’re not guessing. It also means I know how to present a home so it sells: professional photography, drone footage, video walkthroughs, and marketing that actually gets in front of buyers, not just listed and forgotten.

18 years in, and we’re not slowing down. We’ve always done this business a little differently and this feels like the right move - at the right time.

REAL gives us new futuristic tools, a different model, and room to grow in ways we’re excited to explore.

Foreclosures are climbing back toward levels we haven’t seen since the 2008–2009 financial crisis. 👀

During 2008/2009, there were 833 foreclosures.

Right now, we’re sitting at approximately 536.

That doesn’t mean we’re back in 2008 — but it IS a significant number, and it tells us that more homeowners are feeling the pressure of higher borrowing costs, mortgage renewals and the overall cost of carrying a home.

For buyers, court-ordered sales can create opportunities — but buying one in BC is very different from a normal real estate transaction. The process goes through the BC Supreme Court, properties are generally sold “as is, where is,” and the court ultimately approves the sale. (British Columbia Real Estate Association)
