Twenty years ago, before pop-ups were all the rage and casual LA restaurants showcased local farms on their menus, Rustic Canyon opened its doors.

What started off as an intimate series of family dinners in Josh’s home soon became a trailblazing destination for market-driven dining in an unfussy setting.

We officially hit the 20 year mark on December 7, but we’re starting the celebration early. Introducing THE FIRST 20: five nights in October, each welcoming back a chef, sommelier, or winemaker who has been a part of our group’s history.

Oct 6: Josh, Zoe, Samir & Elijah recreate our earliest family dinners, with regenerative winemaker Steve Matthiasson pouring his wines.

Oct 13: Evan Funke returns, and former somm Jenna Isaac pours with Red Car Wine’s Co-Owners Richard & Alison Crowell in the house.

Oct 20: A Tallula’s Takeover with Saw Naing, Kathryn Coker pouring her favorite wines from Esters

Oct 26 & 27: Andy Doubrava & Erika Chan reunite with former somms Kathryn Spencer & Ferdinando Mucerino, and Âmevive winemaker Alice Anderson pouring her wines.

Tonight’s the night. In Spite of Ourselves, the new film from our founder Josh Loeb, premieres at the Landmark Nuart Theatre, with Josh on hand for a Q&A.

Night two of The First 20 brought @evanfunke back to the kitchen he ran from 2008 to 2012, long before Felix and Mother Wolf. Sfincione, tagliatelle alla bolognese, lasagna con carciofi e porcini, and former somm Jenna Isaacs pouring Red Car with Richard Crowell in the house. Thank you to everyone who came out to welcome him home!

Twenty years ago, Rustic Canyon was a dinner at Josh’s house. Tonight we’re cooking that dinner again.

Josh, Zoe, Samir and Elijah are back together for the first night to celebrate The First 20, with Steve Matthiasson pouring. The room is reserved for ticketed guests, so we’re closed to walk-ins and happy hour tonight.
