Visiting Artist Lecture: Dave McKenzie
Wednesday, October 14, 2026 at 7:00 p.m.
Civic Square Building, Room 110
Dave McKenzie creates videos, performances, installations, and objects that examine the inner workings of the structures of desire and belief in contemporary culture. McKenzie explores how public space and the private self are simultaneously alienated, connected, and restricted. At the heart of his diverse practice lies a poetic quest for interaction that lays bare the complications of social rules and obligations with which we navigate personal relationships.

Julia Yerger's oil paintings and collages form the two distinctive avenues of the artist's solo practice, with sculpture and installation often yielded from the more socially invigorated channels of her collaborative exercises.

Visiting Artist Lecture: PARK McARTHUR
Wed, September 16 at 7pm
Livingston Arts Building, 39 Road 3, Piscataway, NJ
Free and open to the public

Much of Park McArthur’s art and practice is about how people experience care. McArthur was born in Raleigh, North Carolina, in 1984, and has participated in collective care throughout her life. Her experience often inspires what and how she creates. Her style emphasizes themes of connection between aesthetics—considerations of beauty—and everyday life. These efforts join a long tradition of disabled artists, who together create a distinctive approach to confronting ableism through artistic expression.

McArthur argues that accessibility is social and can be beautiful. She believes that people provide access to each other. McArthur’s art-making practice is also social. She collaborates with other artists. Sometimes, she uses materials crafted by others to display her connection with them. She also uses the labor of fabricators in her practice. Thematically and materially, McArthur draws attention to accessibility through personal connections and investigates inaccessibility in the built environment.

Wheelchair accessible; ASL/CART available on request. Contact Cassandra at 848-932-5399 / coliveras@mgsa.rutgers.edu one week prior to event. by @rutgersmfa
