🚨 OUT NOW! 🚨 ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐

I absolutely adored T. H. Murdock’s debut thriller, The Date, so I was so excited to read this one. And I’m so pleased I did!

This book is a standout title in the genre for lots of reasons. The premise is immediately gripping - a couple struggling to make ends meet living in a tiny flat suddenly win this incredible house in the Cotswolds. The writing in those moments of excitement (along with the varying and often infuriating reactions from friends) is utterly brilliant. And the questions and intrigue along the way are executed with a rare skill that combines heart and humour with witty observations and simmering tensions.

I read this book in record time because I simply couldn’t put it down!

Gorgeous weekend in Teignmouth with this lovely lady, watching her in an incredible production of Little Shop of Horrors! Brilliant catch-ups and cocktails, and a very peaceful birthday train journey home, to be showered with more gifts, and planning a takeaway for later 🥰 🎂 🥳 Exhausted, but feeling the love! ❤️

Really interesting episode of Curious Cases on BBC Sounds (hosted by Hannah Fry and Dara O’Briain). I’ve always been fascinated by the idea that some people are lucky and others aren’t. I don’t believe in any sort of divine plan - but do people make their own luck? Is luck retrospectively applied to situations by glass-half-full people? Can an unlucky person change themselves into a lucky one through their own psychology?

Someone suggests you can identify a person who sees themselves as ‘unlucky’ almost as soon as you enter a room - it’s in the way they engage and how they talk about themselves and the things that have happened to them. The same with a lucky person. I find this psychology fascinating.

I’ve always considered myself a very lucky person. Not just with the big things in my life, but in smaller every day things too. Some of my luck I have made myself, some has been handed to me on a plate, some is just how I view things.

What is it with me and ‘window seats’ that aren’t actually window seats? Am I accidentally ticking a box that says ‘please make my window seat a wall’? Every. Bloody. Time. Thankfully I’ve found an unreserved window seat further up the carriage. Follow me for more scintillating train content.

Having a celebratory glass for wine because I just sent off my next book to my agent @jowilliamson258 🥳 This book has been a real labour of love - and has taken me longer than any of my first three books took to write. I’ve made more notes and worked through more complications than I ever have before, so it’s also been a learning curve! As always, excited/terrified about feedback! by @ruthironsauthor

Usually my train selfies are me on the way to something bookish. But not tonight! Last night I went to see the incredible @woodysezshow at @underbellyboulevard and it was just as special as I remember from all those years ago! Wonderful to catch up with old cast and new. And tonight they’ve persuaded me to go back for the hootenanny! I haven’t done a hoot in ten years, and I am going to need a stiff drink before I get my violin out, but I can’t wait! 🎻 🎶 by @ruthironsauthor
