While most students were getting into the Halloween spirit this week, the Animation Masters students at @ulsteruni were diving headfirst into VR thinking, design and animation in Quill with me! Super proud of everyone for showing up and for engaging with the tools straight away 👏👏

Big thanks to @deeppurple255 for inviting me and for making sure UU’s animation students get hands-on with the most innovative pipelines out there, and to @littlespring_anim for helping us get everything set up perfectly. It's always a pleasure!

Say hi to Fluffnuts! Lucky she soft landed 🍓

A peaceful moment by the river, enjoying the sweet smell of blossoms and the warm sunshine 🌸

Most people don’t know that before I got into animation, I worked in traditional sculpting and I love bringing those hard earned skills into VR. Here is my personal take on Lady Despina, reimagining her iconic look into a stone bust placed in a serene winter setting.

A week long workshop is not that long when it comes to 3D animation and this one was in VR!

I started the workshop with a few exercises to introduce the VR creation tool Quill. Throughout the week, I introduced increasingly more complex workflows, provided 1 on 1 help and feedback and guided the students around Theatre Elsewhere during breaks to find inspiration.

By the end of the week each project had a 360 VR scene containing an environment, characters animated in different techniques, FX and a camera sequence to show off the work.

The students at University of Nova Gorica did a great job developing their own creative projects and I am super proud of what they achieved!

Thank you Manu Weiss for the invitation and for providing technical assistance! It was a pleasure to meet you, the wonderful staff at the university and Jonathan Schwenk who was running a stop motion workshop at the same time.

My best to you all!

You know I can't resist sneaking cute creatures into my work 🎀

Visit the adorable belles in my VR painting "Spring Hill" where springtime never ends. You can activate fly mode and explore freely or just poke your head in and have a look!

You can find this piece in VR on Theater Elsewhere on Meta Quest.
