POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Public holidays are for writing on the new Dell Inspiron 14 5441 laptop at my favourite writing haunt.

And after a long break I'm well and truly in the mood.

New draft of The Agenda is coming along nicely. A suggestion about the female protagonist has unlocked the script and my head is back in the world of the characters and the story.

8 shows, 1 movie, 1 gig, and an Open Day in the last 11 days. From community theatre to student theatre to youth theatre. From the Revival House to the Perth Film Studios to the ECU City Campus. From Roleystone to Greenmount to the Ellington Jazz Club and beyond.

High quality entertainment in the arts from super talented and dedicated performers, musicians, crew, and all sorts of creatives.

It's always a pleasure and a privilege.

Who says there's nothing to do in Perth?

Completed pages for the short films #doomscroller and Truth To Power now on imdb.

All the people listed - many on both films - did an amazing job and it's important to recognise their contribution on the industry standard database.

Today was a really good day.

I've been in a rut creatively for most of the year due to issues a few people know about but ones I will not elaborate on here.

Suffice to say it's time to finally move on.

Today has been a catalyst for that.

Firstly, listening to world-renowned voice and acting coach Patsy Rodenburg at the new ECU City campus this morning. Hearing about the importance of breath and finding your voice with wonderful anecdotes and a real presence. Plus really perceptive questions from mainly acting students in the audience.

It's also my first time in WAAPA's Playhouse Theatre which is now my favourite of the new performance spaces I've seen so far.

Plus the added surprise of seeing someone there who has been dealing with serious health issues but was well enough to attend. We had a coffee afterwards and a long chat which was also cathartic in many ways for me.

Then this evening I went to a screening of the feature film Aversion at The Backlot. A locally created independent film shot in the US which is in many ways miraculous and inspirational. Conversations ensued that again refocused me and helped kick me out of whatever mental block I've been holding onto for far too long.

So yes, a good day and one that has helped me refind my own voice.

Closing night at the Revelation Perth International Film Festival saw another screening of #doomscroller in the second WA Horror & SciFi Shorts session.

Thank you to everyone who came out to support the film and genre filmmaking; last Sunday at The Backlot and tonight in not one but two cinemas at the Luna Leederville.

It was great to watch the film again sitting with the two Josh's and Shakira.

Congrats also to all the filmmakers in the earlier Get Your Shorts On: City of Vincent Film Project & Life in Pictures.

I'm really looking forward to closing night of @revfilmfest at the Luna tomorrow with Get Your Shorts On - particularly Saskia Glass' In A Sentimental Mood and seeing Trading Cards which did so well at the WASCAs on Thursday night.

Then it's the WA SciFi and Horror shorts session (which #doomscroller is in) that will now be screening concurrently in TWO cinemas due to demand which is awesome.

There are still some tickets left so hope to see you there!

Disappointed to be told that this year's Pitch'd Battle "... has been cancelled due to unforeseen difficulties."

I had put my big boy pants on and entered a one pager for a new short film idea and all!

I guess now I don't need to learn how to use Canva 😂

People being brilliant, part 3.

It's been a long time since I've been at work on my birthday. As is the usual office custom I organised morning tea - in this instance a lovely co-worker made cupcakes for me.

What i didn't expect was that the office organised a full spread and a card & gift. A little unusual but very touching. This also meant there were speeches and singing!

I've only been there just over 9 months so it was quite the surprise but really appreciated. by @rwhyde
