Apparently, being a girl comes with an instruction manual nobody can agree on. Fortunately, the twelve young women on the cover of Issue 54 of Raising Women Magazine missed it entirely. Our International Day of the Girl Child edition celebrates girls rewriting the rules, while reminding us that no girl should need extraordinary achievements to deserve ordinary opportunities.

Apparently, saving the planet is expensive. But then again, so are many of the choices we make without ever questioning their real cost.

Issue 53 of Raising Women Magazine is out now, and we are following the price tags hiding in plain sight. Professor Joyashree Roy challenges how we think about the cost of going green, while across the issue we unpack passport privilege, the centuries-old rulebook of the “good woman”, the psychology of work before pleasure, personal boundaries, overlooked business opportunities and even the tiny beauty department hiding inside a woman’s handbag.

On this International Day of the Girl Child 2026, we are not just celebrating girls, we are choosing them.

A girl should be in school, not in a marriage.
She should have dreams, not duties forced on her.
