Bryan Johnson wants to be the first man to live forever. I’ve set my sights slightly lower: I want to be the most relaxed woman alive 🦦

Not the most successful. Not the most optimised. Not the most fashionable, or beautiful, or desired. Or the clean girl with the slicked-back bun and a thousand tabs open in her head. The most f*cking genuinely, deeply, relaxed.

I wrote a whole essay about it. About how we were trained to watch ourselves from the outside until we forgot how to feel ourselves from the inside. About the hungry ghost we’ve quietly all become, forever consuming, never once full. About ojas, and rest, and putting my actual hands in the actual soil. And about why calming down, in a world that profits from our panic, might be the most rebellious thing a woman can do right now.

Read it if you want- don’t if you don’t.

Signed- your triple Taurus friend 🧚✌🏽

unconventional life inspo: Shrek 🌱🧚🌝

in the age of ai the plan is simple. let the robots be the machines. and we go back to being human.

frolic in the forest. grow a tomato. live near people you love. do a rolly polly down a hill and then float in the sea. cook food that’s actually food. laugh loads. forget what slack is.

you can buy the £200 grounding mat, the magnesium powder and the little device that beeps at you to breathe. or you can go lie on the actual earth and dunk your head in the actual ocean. same benefits. one of them is free.

he lived in a swamp, off-grid, protected his peace and married the love of his life. shrek had it right the whole time.

get out of the algorithm. get in the swamp.

For someone whose entire personality was productivity, performance or competition- learning to do nothing has been properly disorienting 🦦 which is exactly why I needed to do it.

That’s been Phase 01 of rewilding my life. No plan. No salary. Just me trying to sit still long enough to hear what I actually want, underneath everything I was trained to want.

And the hardest part wasn’t leaving the life, or the city, or the version of me that looked fine on paper. It was the silence afterwards. When there’s nothing left to optimise and you finally have to feel all the things you’d been outrunning for years and years. Chasing things you didn’t even want.

This is everything Phase 01 has taught me so far. The stopping, the removing, the grieving, the strange relief on the other side.

If you’re tired of being tired, come with me.

Sharing more on the substack. On the podcast. On @rwld_____ Link in bio. I’ll go into more detail and into phase 02 soon 🌀

We were built to MOVEEEE. PLAY! Walk, climb, carry, dance, wander for miles. Now most of us sit for most of the day, hunched over a laptop like a little prawn, then pay a gym to let us move again for 45 minutes. Lol. What the hell?

Long periods of sitting are linked to poorer metabolic health, stiff hips, sluggish digestion and lower mood.

Your lymphatic system has no pump of its own. It relies on you moving to circulate. Your fascia gets tight and sticky when it stays in one shape too long.

Nature doesn’t need a membership. A walk on uneven ground works your stabilising muscles, ankles and balance in ways a treadmill never ever everr will. Sunlight sets your body clock. Sea air feels like a factory reset. Water on your face is free therapy.

So stand up. Go outside. Walk somewhere with hills in it. Put a song on and dance like you’ve got no bones where only the bushes and an occasional bystander can see you and join in on the boogie or judge ya. Who cares.

Your body was never meant to live in a chair. Let it remember.

Rewild is a return to the body you were born with. Follow @rwld___ for the philosophy and @emmalabow for the real-time rewilding 🌿 by @rwld_____

Nobody taught us how to rest, or that it’s ok to chill the f*ck out- daily, without “earning” it first 🥱

They taught us how to recover so we could go again. There’s a difference.

The women we grew up watching were impressive. Capable. Exhausted in a way they’d learned to perform as virtue. Rest wasn’t modelled as something you were allowed. It was something you earned. And even then, you did it wrong.

You were not taught to be at ease. You were taught to manage your discomfort quietly enough that no one noticed.

That’s not the same as being relaxed. And somewhere in you, you already know that.

I was explaining this to my mum recently-how you can meet someone, love their company, be fully in it, and still not feel the need to cling to them 🌀

“That’s a negative way to think about things,” she said.

But I don’t think it is. I think it’s one of the most beautiful ideas I’ve ever come across. And it’s not something I made up to justify being a bit avoidant-it’s a 2,000-year-old yogic principle. Aparigraha. Non-attachment. Non-grasping. The idea that nothing alive was ever meant to be held still 🕊️

Nature figured this out long before we invented attachment theory. The moon empties and fills. Trees drop their leaves. Nothing beautiful out there is trying to keep itself in bloom forever. Only humans do that-gripping youth, relationships, careers, versions of ourselves that already expired, long after they’ve stopped making us feel alive 🌙

Non-attachment isn’t caring less. It’s clinging less. Meeting something fully while it’s here, without making your peace depend on it staying.

So maybe some people aren’t homes. Maybe some are weather. And meeting them for a season doesn’t make it any less sacred.

Full essay on Substack, link in bio. The one about why we cling to everything we love.

Belated podcast ep just dropped 🎙️ something in me felt like quitting @rwld_____ recently just as it started to get some attention. El Classico. A classic me move. Classic self sabotage. So I’ve decided to rebel- and against all my inner critics, do the f*cking thing anyway. 🎧

Here’s some context. A few months ago, I started building RWLD. I shared some thoughts about burnout, leaving behind my old life, and finding a different way to live.

Then, unexpectedly, people started paying attention.

3,000 new followers. Thousands of saves. Podcast invitations. UGC offers. People messaging me saying I was inspiring them. Opportunities I hadn’t anticipated- I’m not an influencer lol. It was an unexpected amount of attention.

And instead of leaning in, I retreated.

I questioned whether I was qualified to speak. Felt like an imposter. Wondered who I thought I was to be doing any of this.

So I stopped posting.

I found reasons to focus on other things. Told myself I needed to prioritise money, that I wasn’t ready, that I needed space from social media.

And yes, some of those things were true.

But underneath them was a realisation I couldn’t ignore:

I was scared of it working.

And the more I looked at it, the more I recognised a pattern that extends far beyond RWLD.

I move towards something I want, experience a little success, then find myself pulling away.

I’ve been calling it: Rise → Receive → Retreat → Repeat.

In this episode, I explore the Upper Limit Problem, family loyalties, imposter syndrome, and the ways we can unconsciously make receiving love, money, recognition and opportunity feel unsafe.

Because sometimes the hardest part isn’t getting what you want.

It’s allowing yourself to have it.

I’m not sharing this as someone who’s figured it out. I’m still working through it, and I’m learning to notice what happens when I reach my upper limit and overcoming it in real time.

Available on Spotify & Substack 🦋 we’re back baby.

Restlessness gets a bad reputation. We’re told to settle it, medicate it, meditate it away.

But restlessness is data. It means something in you is tracking a direction that your current life hasn’t caught up with yet. That pull isn’t chaos. It’s compass.

The question isn’t how to stop feeling it. It’s whether you’re brave enough to follow it somewhere. So- are you?

Someone told me recently that I was wise in matters of ye olde heart 🫀Which was kind, and also a bit mad, because most days I am fully winging it and my god am I an emotionally complex onion of a woman.

But I think about love a lot, and people keep telling me I give good advice, so here are some of the things I’ve landed on 🌀

My mum said to me the other day that not needing to cling to people was a negative way to see things. I don’t think it is. I think it might be the most freeing thing I’ve ever understood. Non-attachment was never about caring less, it’s about clinging less. Loving something fully while it’s here without needing to cage it 🐅

34, a lover girl, still figuring it out, still getting it wrong. 🥺 Little Em would’ve been spared a lot of heartache if she knew about some of these sooner.

Books for rebuilding your life, sorted into the five parts worth rebuilding: body, mind, attention, career, and the beliefs underneath all of it 🌚📖

When my old life stopped fitting, I consumed advice for months looking for the answer. What actually helped wasn’t another five-step plan. It was Braiding Sweetgrass, Four Thousand Weeks and Women Who Run With the Wolves 🐺 books that made a different life feel possible instead of making me feel even further behind. 🌀

I’ve sorted my favourites by what in you might need rebuilding, so you can start wherever you’re standing.

Save this for the next wobble, and send it to the person you’re already thinking of.

What belongs on the RWLD syllabus next? 🐆

The annoying thing about a dream job is that it can still make you unwell 🌀 (if you’re not designed for it)

Especially when the dream is basically: creative work, remote freedom, laptop from anywhere, no proper office, no obvious villain.

For a while I thought that meant I’d cracked it.

But “anywhere” can become everywhere very quickly. Bed. Beach. Dinner. Your own head at 11pm.

And I’m realising I don’t actually want a dream job if the shape of the life around it still makes me feel trapped.

I want work that matters, obviously. I want money. I want purpose. I want to do a good job.

But I also want sunlight. Movement. Space. Good sleep. Long lunches. Offline time. A nervous system that isn’t being cooked by notifications. A body that gets to come with me.

I think I’ve spent a lot of my life trying to find the perfect work.

Now I’m more interested in building the perfect rhythm.

Or at least trying.

This is basically what RWLD is becoming: the place I’m documenting all of this.

Burnout, freedom, health, work, money, ritual, nature, systems, creativity, getting your mojo back 🦋

The thing I’m learning is that my perfect job isn’t actually a job.

It’s a lifestyle. And I want a juicy one 🧃

P.s the CapCut logo on the fifth page is the ultimate test for my perfectionist tendencies

🎧 Episode 3 is up. 🌀

There’s a look people give women in their thirties. So what’s next then? Are you going to settle down soon? Aren’t you worried about leaving it too late?

This one is about the timeline underneath that look. School, career, relationship, marriage, mortgage, kids, stability, roughly in that order, roughly by those ages, or you’ve apparently missed a train. I get into where that sequence actually came from (biology, duh 🙄 ), and the cost of staying on it that nobody ever counts the way they count the cost of leaving.

I talk about settling properly. Not the obvious kind. The small one. The thing that’s fine. Fine is dangerous because it never forces your hand. And I sit inside the paradox that’s been running my own life lately: catastrophically behind on every timeline, and the most certain I’ve ever been. Both true at once.

New metric by the end: not am I on schedule, but does my life feel more mine than it did last year.

🧐Homework, no journal required:

Whose timeline are you actually on. The deadline you feel behind on, did you choose it, or was it handed to you so young you just started running. And if you stopped running, not forever, just for a moment, what would you actually move toward.

Send this to someone who secretly feels late to a life they’re not even sure they want. 🌿
