Did a Yin Yoga TT on an organic fruit farm in Sri Lanka and thought I’d share some of my notes (and a very brief trauma dump Woops) 📖

As a lot of you know from my occasional sporadic brain dumps on le internet I experienced a lot of burnout over the past few years (along with every other modern day human being) and I’m basically doing everything in my power to avoid falling into those states again.

Western medicine has been a plaster, a band-aid in many of my symptoms but often fails to go deeper and get to the root, and I’m so fascinated by eastern practices and knowledge. I’m a v curious cat and like to learn and grow constantly so this felt like a natural fit.

Yin & Somatics has personally been a game changer for me. So many of us spend our lives in our heads and it’s insane to me how disconnected we can be from ourselves.

So here’s a few bits n bobs that may help if you feel the same 🌀

A day in my life in Sri Lanka (that absolutely nobody asked for) as a former horrendously burnt out girlie trying to slowly but surely get her mojo back 🌀✨

I’m unsure if I’m gonna continue with this account- I started it in the peak of my burnout when I was still working a lot, had a lot of things happening in my personal life and wanted to create resources to help both myself and others. But since then- I’ve stopped working for a bit, cut a lot of things out my life, ended my tenancy, shed a lot of stress and booked a one way flight to Sri Lanka. I think for a while I just needed to not be on a laptop and live in reality instead.

Honestly it’s so wild how for a long time my biggest fear was stopping. It made me feel so unsafe to just walk away from things with zero backup plan. But I’m realising that with distance comes crystal clear clarity- something you can’t get when you’re running at 100mph.

I love Lisbon and I love design- and these are both things I’ll return to shortly. But this is a gentle reminder to always prioritise your health, your happiness and never settle with your life.

I feel a very strong pull to still be creative, to still work in a wellness space, and to still find ways to rebel against the ridiculous demands of the modern world that make so many of us feel exhausted, stressed and rushed all the time- but for now, I needed a break. Some people are cut out for hustle and bustle- I’m cut out for freedom, creativity, expression, nature and a calm af nervous system and I simply refuse to put myself in a cage- even a golden one.

Anyway. Im posting like an influencer again to my 50 followers- but what ya gonna do.

Ps. I don’t know why I said “wee” so many times. I’m English.

Last week I had a much needed digital detox. 🌿

It’s funny because part of my job is social media- yet I spend every moment outside of work in do not disturb.

I keep all notifications off, and I really try to unplug as much as possible. I am a terrible texter. It takes me ages to respond to stuff. I prefer in person over through a screen in almost every area. Why are we so available all the time? Says who?

There’s a chance that one day I’ll go full Thoreau and move to a cabin in the woods and use carrier pigeons to send messages to the outside world but until then I’ll just continue to DND all the time.

We live in a world that constantly demands our attention- the most peaceful thing you can do is reclaim it 🧚
