Last week, we hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the newly installed #RxARTCanadaProject by Jordan Bennett at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. What was once a blank wall now bursts with color and energy, welcoming patients, visitors, and staff with a vibrant dose of hope ❤️🫐 Thank you to @jordanbennettart, RxART Canada board members @lrcs26 & @trevorbornmd and the leadership at Princess Margaret’s & @UHNToronto for making this project possible.

Princess Margaret Cancer Centre is Canada’s largest comprehensive cancer research and treatment centre, with 85,000 square feet of clinical space. The centre focuses on cancer research across various fields, including genomics, informatics, molecular biology, signalling, structural biology, biophysics, and health services 🏥

Jordan Bennett’s Blueberries with Nan has officially been installed at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in Toronto, ON 🫐🇨🇦

The composition utilizes colour, form, and visual elements from Mi’kmaq culture and reflects on beauty and growth after hardship through the inclusion of floating, abstracted blueberries in the upper portion of the piece. For Bennett, blueberries represent medicine, power, and hope, and bringing blueberries to share at feasts is a common familial and community practice. By including the berries in this installation at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, Bennett shares this medicine with those affected by cancer ❤️‍🩹

Of his work, Bennett says, “It’s my hope that these colours will be an entry point for folks to spend time with the work, have a moment to breathe, and be filled with the idea and hope of new growth.”

We’re excited to share the installation imagery for Elizabeth McIntosh’s #RxARTCanadaProject at West Park Healthcare Centre! 🙌🇨🇦

When artist Elizabeth McIntosh accepted this commission, she was tasked with transforming one of the facility’s most stressful places: the south entrance, where many inpatients arrive for the first time, often with feelings ranging from anxiety to hope. McIntosh’s multi-wall installation draws inspiration from French domestic wallpaper as a means of infusing the space with a sense of home 🏠❤️

A new #RxARTCanadaProject is coming 🔜👀

RxART Canada is working with Elizabeth McIntosh to transform West Park Healthcare Centre’s south entrance. The south entrance is the facility’s most stressful place, as it's where many inpatients arrive for the first time with mixed feelings ranging from anxiety to hope. McIntosh’s multi-wall installation draws inspiration from French domestic wallpaper as a way to infuse the space with a sense of home and comfort 🏡

We can’t wait to share more updates with you!

Marcel Dzama has been commissioned to create a performance piece for the 2023 @performanyc biennial this November! 👯

Marcel is lending his whimsical and mystical visual language to the medium of performance, complete with live musicians, animated film, and dance, inspired by “Trip to the Moon” - a poem by Spanish poet and playwright Federico Garcia Lorca, written during a trip to New York in 1929. The piece will be a co-production with the Centro Federico García Lorca Foundation (@centrofgl ) in Madrid, and will be presented at @abronsartscenter

We are continuously amazed by how Marcel’s artistry and creativity seems to know no bounds. RxART is nearing completion of an upcoming #RxARTProject with Marcel, and he is the cover artist on our first #BetweenTheLines RxART Canada Colouring Book - we love working with you @marceldzama ! ❤
