Burning man is a wild and strange place; sometimes you get the burn you want, most of the time you get what you get. Every year is vastly different; takeaways, challenges, lessons, experiences.

Although this year felt condensed and had some challenges: we had white-out windstorms for three days, rain for two, freezing weather at night. I had a bike break, our generator stopped working, I didn’t get to see a lot of the art, camps, or friends I had hoped to. 7 days quickly turned into 3.

There were still a lot of magical, beautiful and serendipitous moments:

Jules and I set up camp; our nextdoor neighbor, who quickly became a friend had an extra generator and gas that he generously let us use.

The random bike shop on the corner had the exact part my bike needed when it broke.

We wanted to spin fire one night at an art piece, but there wasn’t any music; five minutes later an art car rolled up playing the exact music we love to dance and spin to.

We ran into friends on multiple occasions by “randomly” being in the right place at the right time, usually following curiosity.

I’m grateful for my partner in crime and adventure buddy Miss Juju! Thanks for being down for random type two fun adventures.

Hello friends, and family! I wanted to write a little update and share some thoughts and my journey.

It has been a beautiful and wild ride, sometimes very easy and sometimes very challenging. Often in direct relation to my viewpoint and my integrity.

I haven’t posted much because I’ve been deep in my own story, which I want to share.. it started with a journey of physical pain. Which for someone like myself that has a lot of information about the body, mind, and considers myself healthy, being injured was hard to reconcile.

My body was asking for attention, and yet I would ignore that. I would smoke 5-6 spliffs a day and play video games for way too long. I didn’t want to heal, look at the pain, the emotions, or that I wasn’t in alignment. Id say things like,” I’m not going to spend another day doing this..this is my last time I’ll do.. x,y,z thing.” And the next day do the exact same thing…

The lack of discipline and self control ate away at my self esteem, I was beginning to think I wouldn’t or couldn’t change as much as I wanted to. I knew I had the information I needed to heal my low back, change the neurological pathways of addiction and chance my circumstance. Yet I didn’t, that caused frustration to rise. It impacted me and those around me. Finally I got fed up with this as my reality.

So I made a plan, I started building (physical houses) I started focusing on what I wanted to see. I started listening to the voice of my heart, the wisdom of my body, and my intuition. I became hyper aware of following through with my word. And gave myself grace when I didn’t.

Fast forward a few months, I’ve dropped the addictive neurological pathways, gotten stronger in my body and feel proud of myself.

Being true to one’s self is a journey; I may miss the mark again and the faster I can catch myself with love and try again the better. That’s growth.

Thank you to all who have leant me your love and wisdom along this path near and far. Especially my partner Jules, I cherish your support, grace and for your patience. Thanks for having my back and being a constant source of love, and being my mirror as I grow.

It is pretty wild to watch the back muscles adapt to catch and stabilize the core, as I run down the trail. Each foot placed, thousands of micro movements to keep the body going and standing in strength.

I saw this kettle bell lift online and wanted to try it. Definitely hit my head with it one time when I wasn’t present. 😅 So stay present with your body, and yourself whenever you move or workout.

I remember I was reflecting on why we call it working out. It seems to me that the more I am reminding the muscles how to move that I am able to pop vertebrae, shoulders or my neck facets back into place. So it’s almost like we are working out the improper alignment.

Also I noticed there are certain cues that you can see in my flow that greatly impacts my posture and form. Sometimes calling awareness to it is the thing that is helpful.

While moving, remember to play and if we treat it like an exploration: that I get to choose what’s next and feels intuitive for me. Kettlebell, nope, resistance bands, yes!
Always checking in and seeing where the body is.

Oh and always be singing! 😊🎵

Amidst the dusty chaos, senses become clouded, inviting a present moment.

When you can’t see more than four feet in front of you and your goggles become covered in dust while you’re spinning fire.. the only thing left to do is feel.

Feeling into the staff as it burns around me. It’s a dance, between listening and leading, grace and structure… Where does the dragon want to go, and where am I in relation to it.

Sometimes our minds and life get clouded, how do we return to the present moment. To sensation, to feeling, to listening?

From sunrise to sunset burning man is full of memories...It's so hard to a capture the experience at all, let alone in a few photos; however, here are a few snaps from this years burn.

From laughter with the friends to hanging out at our living room in the heat of day, dancing our hearts out into the wee hours of the dawn, with fire blazing and love abound..

Biking around in the dust with glorious sunsets and open hearts, to the sounds of flags in the wind and the cherished memories they hold..

Skies filled with cranes, helping build art with hard work and sweat, a piece of art that thousands of people enjoyed..

The tears of processing loved lost ones, letting them go..the tears in being proud of myself for making such beautiful art. I had plenty of breakthrough moments of release through grief and love and letting go.

Just like any good type 2 fun.. You have to get caught in sandstorms and relying on the sun to guide you back, have your bike breakdown and have to walk it back to camp for hours, not take a bath or shower for a few days, get messy, get wild, and all the while witnessing humans bring their most creative free expressions to life.

I am blessed to have this burning man experience indeed. And burning man is hard, yet rewarding.

I am grateful to have been apart of the @houseoffabl team. Grateful to have a home base (bass) camp such as ours at Exploritorium. Grateful for the friends who capture when I can't seem to take any photos. @noahs.lens I appreciate your eye!
