We’ve been very busy these past 4 months designing and building Two the Pointe house here in Denver in crazy hot temps. Myself, @ryan.young_ and @autumn_lea_slp, with the help of several friends and two architecture student apprentices from CU Boulder are almost finished framing the structure. We’re a week away from starting siding.

Lots of hard physical work and having a fvkin blast building our home and the future HQ of @houseoffabl 😎

Burning Man is all of it. It’s what you make of it, and what it makes of you. A temporary city built by its participants, it is a reflection of the people who build it (and unfortunately now too, those who consume it)
Gatherings like this, they have a soul of their own. And just as much as they reflect light and inspiration, they also reflect back the unhealed parts of ourselves. But something about the playa makes the lessons so obvious. Like the universe has trolled us so many times it’s impossible to ignore.
And 100% of the time it’s magical. Even the hard times - they lead us to the edge of our capacity and illuminate the discrepancy between expectation and reality.
But it’s up to us what we do with it. And in a city of infinite possibilities, that can be an overwhelming gift of choice.
So, TLDR:
• Next year was better
• The simulation is broken
• We all love a little type 2 fun

Learning to speed fly under your tutelage was such an epic experience. Swimming in massive waves in tulum at night was quintessential Carl type shit. Ditching our bikes at my first burning man to hop on a steampunk art car and each of us - you, Paul, Austin and I - banging on its massive drums as we rolled slowly towards the man was a burning man memory I don’t know if I’ll ever top. We had to find community bikes and went on some wild side quests - like finding Rachels airstream empty… except for a warm rack of ribs, which we promptly devoured, and then took photos to leave for her so that she knew what happened 🤣 I’m so glad @bolonikionsun got to meet you in maui.

I always looked up to you. You brought so many epic people together and they all became my lifelong friends. I can’t imagine what my life would be like had you not graced it.

Friends, we are losing too many to suicide. Promise me you won’t take your own life. It is not an easy way out.

Loving you was accepting that one day we might get that call - you always pushed the boundaries of speedflying into new frontiers…. I can’t know why you went the way you did but I know this trend needs to reverse.

For my birthday this year, all I really wanted was to be surrounded by the people I love most. And a charcuterie board potluck with flowers, bubbles, bright colors and all things joy.

I recently received some unexpected health news that’s been a lot to process … something I may share more about in time. It immediately gave me a deeper empathy for anyone who has ever felt not at home, unwell, or uncomfortable in their body for any reason. ❤️

Being held by both my given and chosen family has meant so much. Thank you to each of you for supporting and loving me. I feel really lucky and blessed to be cared for by so many.

This morning, a friend asked me my intention for this next trip around the sun. Aside from both of us landing on “36 … HOT”, what feels most right for me is presence and moving slow. Being present with how I nourish myself, how I speak to my body, how I choose to live. Being present with my people, with joy, with sadness, with all of it.

There are moments right now that can feel so overwhelming, navigating something unknown within my body. I just keep hugging and holding myself tightly on every walk by the river and every morning I meditate in bed telling myself everything will be okay. A huge shoutout of gratitude to all the healers, caretakers and doctors I have in my corner right now. Thank you 🙏

Being surrounded by the best community, sharing my bday with my dear friend Ben and everything that’s moving right now …. I know one thing to be true … I don’t want to abandon joy in the process. If anything, it feels like presence and joy are the most important things to hold onto right now … so thank you all for letting me feel my feelings and also helping me remember and feel the really important spark of joy in my heart and spirit.

At first the integration was rough. From the lush heart of my favorite junglescapes, to an extra dry, grey, windy Colorado… in Costa Rica, each day was a new adventure, filled with the people, places (and puppies) I love most 🥹
Coming back to “reality” hit me - and my sinuses - in a way I really didn’t see coming. I’m usually so happy to settle back into my little Colorado nest, especially after a month+ on the road. In the throes of my pity party, I started dreaming up this post. But then a couple days later, I started to remember it’s 𝘮𝘺 story to write. a ‘lil photo dump for ya.

these days life is like weekly sunday brunch we don’t eat ‘til sunset, bringing back my podcast, & puppies at my tea table. it’s oyster dates, holiday baking, & elusive snow, private parties at my house, and late-night b2b DJing with my besties.

it’s being grateful for time, feeling it all, saying yes, and living to the fullest. it’s circle of life, being as present as i can.

despite the external horrors, life is still beautiful. i’m blessed to have this little threshold moment where so many of my favorites are in the same place at the same time, where we get to see each other as much as we want, make art & memories together, and be there for each other through the ups & downs, highs & lows of life. i don’t take this for granted—i know change is the only constant, and we can’t know for sure what’s coming next.

what i do know is that my relationships mean everything to me. maybe that’s the only thing that will never change.
