When we started the MacDonell Foundation, it began as a logistical move to help with our fundraising efforts. It has since become something we are so blessed to be part of, and none of it could happen without the outpouring of support from our friends, family, and community.

Today is Dad’s birthday, and as we reflect on this weekend, all we can think about is how happy he would be to see so many people, just shy of 200 runners, and the many sponsors, volunteers, and friends, from so many different walks of life coming together on Saturday. Whether you came for the run, the conversations, or because we (lovingly) forced you to.

Above everything, Dad was a people person. Bringing people together, giving to those he could, and having a good time with those he loved and those he’d never met were the things that he found the most joy in. While he wasn’t physically there with us, we know he was looking down beaming.

So, to everyone who spent Saturday morning with us, donated, sponsored, or just came to hang out and cheer: thank you. You not only mean the world to us, you are also helping fund resources for Long Island families navigating the difficulties of Alzheimer’s and dementia.

We hope you had as good a day as we did, and we cannot wait to come back even better next year. by @ryan_macdonell

Yesterday we said goodbye to our super hero.

There are no words to explain the hole we have in our hearts, but the stories and memories of the larger than life man he was will live on forever.

I love you, Dad. I’ll see you when I get there. by @ryan_macdonell

Thank you so much for the support of our 1st Race to End Alz 5K this past weekend! We had an incredible turnout and were able to raise both funds and awareness for a cause that means so much to so many families—including our own. We are so grateful to all of our participants, sponsors and volunteers.

Hosting this event for the first time was a milestone, and we couldn’t have done it without your support, energy, and spirit. Seeing our community come together in such a meaningful way was truly inspiring.

Together, we’re moving closer to a future without Alzheimer’s. by @ryan_macdonell
