“One Bear”, Oil, 24” x 30”. This piece is done and just needs a frame. The reference for this photo was a very kind man that I was lucky enough to take his photo in South Dakota. #oilpainting #westernart #west #southdakota #portrait @ryanasmithart by @ryanasmithart

$Jordyn’s Climb, Oil, 24” x 30”, now available @broadmoor.galleries. By way of background, I took the reference photo for this painting of @jordynknxx at dusk at a ranch outside of Edgemont, South Dakota. My take on this painting was inspired by one of my favorite painters, W. Herbert Denton, who painted horses like no other. I know it’s not a fraction as good, but it’s something to strive for in my paintings. #oilpainting #westernart #horse #cowgirl #cowboy @ryanasmithart by @ryanasmithart$

Just a reminder, the show with @trina_jae_ at @mountaintrailssedona is on 10/2 in Sedona, Arizona from 4-7, where I will have five paintings of Trina available from our time(s) in Monument Valley. She and I will both be in attendance. Trina is not only the model for the reference material for my paintings, but also plays a key role in identifying scenery, poses, and movement that make my paintings better. When we go out on a shoot, she is directing me most of the time, which is a good thing. #oilpainting #arizona #sedona #gallery #westernart @ryanasmithart by @ryanasmithart

A big thank you to @mountaintrailssedona @lydiagatzowart and @trina_jae_ for last night’s show. The highlight was clearly Trina explaining the background and stories connected to each painting of her, including this painting that sold. #westernart #sedona #oilpainting #arizona #southwest @ryanasmithart by @ryanasmithart
