@johncarpenterofficial the #master of #horror himself!!! Saw him perform last night in #Philly. Asked the best advice he had for a young #filmmaker, and he told me, "Keep doing it. Keep writing. Keep creating." Wise words. #johncarpenter #halloween #fog #assaultonprecinct13 #michaelmyers #film #filmscore #awesome taken in The Trocadero by @ryanfilmmaker

BROTHER WAYNE KRAMER!!! I'm a little late on posting this, but I had the honor to watch Brother Wayne Kramer of MC5 speak about his music, life, and influence on the industry before performing the 50th anniversary of his album Kick Out the Jams. Much like Hendrix, he helped pave the way for how hard rock music is still played today, through effects, and distortion. He's also been called the Godfather of Punk by many partially due to his leftist political ties, and anti-establishment lyrics. The Stooges would soon follow in their path.

He influenced many of the best musicians including Led Zeppelin, Tom Morello, and Jack White.

When asked about how he see's the world today, his answer was surprisingly upbeat. he said, "It's actually better than ever. We have the best medicine. Crime, war, and violence is lower than ever, and science is better than ever, but like always, there's always room for improvement." I also received a copy of his new book, "The Hard Stuff." I'm only 100 pages in, but so far it paints a good portrait of 1960's America, especially Detroit. We explore many aspects of the country at the time such as the auto industry, and the amount bigotry he witnessed at the time, which resulted in the band known as MC5 who were heavily inspired by what was going on at the time. I highly recommend giving this a read, and picking up a copy of his album, "Kick Out the Jams." Keep rocking everyone!

Rest in Power to my mentor, and good friend, Chuck Alder. He sadly lost his battle to cancer, yesterday.

Chuck was my bass guitar teacher, who I began taking lessons from when I was 12 years old. My Uncle who was also a bass player introduced us. My lessons with him would continue for 10 years till I graduated college in 2016. Despite this, we had kept in touch and would always make time to grab a meal whenever we had the chance.

Chuck’s career spanned decades. He was involved in the Long Island, Psychedelic Rock band, The Illusion from 1965 to 1972, with a few reunions including their induction into the Long Island Music Hall of Fame in 2022. They had the privilege of opening for many great acts in the 1960s including Sly and the Family Stone, and the Jimi Hendrix Experience. His career would continue for decades to come.

I learned a lot of important facts about music under him, and lessons made me not only a good musician, but a better listener. He would often perform with custom made 6-string basses. He was one of America’s greatest bass players, and the world of music just got a lot smaller. He will be missed.

Thank you for the memories, Chuck! I’m sad we won’t make anymore.

My sympathies are with his wife, Karen. by @ryanfilmmaker

Green Day were the first band of which I ever owned a CD. When I got my first portable CD player, the two albums I’d play the most was “American Idiot” and their greatest hits album, “International Superhits.” I’ve been lucky to see Green Day 7 times, but getting to see them perform their albums “Dookie” and “American Idiot” in full commemorating their 30th, and 20th anniversaries respectively not only makes this this the best time I’ve seen them, but one of the 5 greatest shows I’ve ever seen.

For me, this was my Taylor Swift “Eras Tour.” Always see the music you want to see, and don’t ever let anyone talk down to you about your taste! Life’s too short. Enjoy it!!!

“And there’s nothing wrong with me
This is how I’m supposed to be
In a land of make-believe
That don’t believe in me”
-Green Day, “Jesus of Suburbia”

On a side note, cheers to the opening acts as well!!! Smashing Pumpkins, Rancid, and the Linda Lindas made this a very fun show!!! taken in Citi Field by @ryanfilmmaker

Rest in Power, Cookie!!!
(2011-2024)

I’m very sad to post that my rabbit, Cookie has passed away. She was very sweet, quiet and loved affection, lettuce, and treats. Whenever she was happy, she would run circles around me, and groom me with kisses. I was the only one she would let hold her too. She is going to be very missed. Rabbits are excellent pets, and I recommend adopting one for yourself if you’re you’re looking for a new pet. They’re similar to cats. by @ryanfilmmaker
