Hey y’all! Embracing Failure is back! This year I will be teaching this class @snowfarmcraft June 1-6.

If your idea of fun is making and breaking glass this class is for you!!!

This class is intended for intermediate to advanced glassmakers, who are eager to dive into the skills and techniques associated with Venetian style goblets. You will focus not only on the how and why of each part of the goblet-making process but also on the issues, hang-ups, and critical errors that everyone encounters on the road to finely crafted stemware.

Each day will begin with a combination of discussions, illustrations, and hot shop demonstrations to serve as inspiration for your endeavors during your bench time.
Starting with basic cup forms, demonstrations will gradually increase in complexity with the addition of avolios, blown feet, stems, and eventually some basic ornamentation. Special attention will be given to each individual element as they are added to build a more complete visual and technical understanding of the process.

First of several pieces from my @museumofglass residency (episode 6, season 4 of @blownawayseries) is complete and I am beyond stoked with the outcome.

Such an incredible feeling to sketch shapes and doodle patterns for years and finally get the opportunity to make it a reality. Big thanks to the team at Tacoma
(y’all know who you are) for all the hospitality and glass knowledge. That residency has proven to be one of memorable and influential experiences of my professional career.

And of course… this piece would be clear without the help of @olympiccolors, thank you for the badass colored glass.

This piece will be on view @habatatgalleries for their 2025 invitational next week. Stop by, say hi and check out one of the incredible glass exhibitions in the world. taken in Huron Street Studios by @ryanthompsonglass

Happy Friday! Hope everyone is slowing up the pace as they head into the weekend for some fun and relaxation.

I have been working on getting back into a flow with bottle making. The pace/process for these seems a bit chaotic… but although these objects seem fast and loose from outside the bench, in reality they are controlled and meticulous. Moments of intense heat and movement are followed by deep breaths and focused planning at the G-Hole.

I fell in love with this type of glass blowing very early on and was fortunate to be able to continue honing this discipline for most of my professional career. The past two years has not allowed me much time to practice or make the things I truly want to make, but I’m determined to alter this trajectory. Cheers to the homestretch of ‘26 - Sights set on ‘27. taken in Huron Street Studios by @ryanthompsonglass

No glass blowing today just a lot of picking stuff up and putting it back down.

Pull’d some moves out of the vault w/ @rfpglass today. I miss doing these little decorative embellishments. My style of glassblowing definitely leans towards “fast & loose” but once the bottle is complete it’s fun to slow down and focus on a few small details and soak in a little bit of relaxing before the process starts again. Want some bottles? Dots? No dots? Blue? Doesn’t matter. Gimme a shout, I love making these things. by @ryanthompsonglass

Bottles —> Tacos —> Bottles.

One of the many things I love about a glass shop is there are always multiple was to get some grub cook’d up on the quick. #Diezmillo tacos are a shop fav. Unfortunately hold the cilantro these days. That bottle and other beautiful collectible design objects available in the gallery @huron.street.studios, come by to snag a stunning piece to make your favorite space pop, or pick one up for an unforgettable gift. Cheers! taken in Huron Street Studios by @ryanthompsonglass
