Visitors can enjoy Castle Water safely again by following this simple guidance:
> Do not touch or approach sick, injured or dead birds.
> Keep to designated footpaths and viewing areas, do not enter the water
> Keep dogs on a lead at all times.

🎶 Nightingales: Live with Sam Lee & Axel Wild at Rye Harbour 🎶Friday 6th November, from 7.30pm

Don't miss out on another very special evening with Mercury Prize-nominated folksinger, Sam Lee, in a truly intimate setting. We're delighted to welcome Sam back to Rye Harbour Discovery Centre for an enthralling audio experience.

Let folksinger and naturalist, @samleesong, and nature-sound-recordist and spatial audio maestro, @axelwildsound, take you on a narrated, musical and sonic journey into the world of the Nightingale.

Be immersed, via surround sound speakers, song, stories and recordings, in the extraordinary life and character of this exquisite singer. Hear tales of our relationship to the land through this now critically endangered species that Sussex Wildlife Trust works to protect.

Sam's talent for breathing new life into traditional songs earned him recognition at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards. His springtime ‘Singing With Nightingales’ events have highlighted the plight of this bird. And his debut novel, ‘The Nightingale, Notes on a Songbird’, explores its enduring cultural legacy.

🔥Tickets are selling fast, visit link in bio or our website for our events listings: 👇

Walk #2 over and out 😍

It was so gorgeous to welcome back some faces from our first walk, and induct some new friends into birding this morning! 🐦🪶

@ryeharbournr never disappoints and today was no exception. We were totally spoilt and saw 23 different species of birds 😍

The highlight has to be filling out an empty bird hide 🥹

We are so lucky to have seen that many birds, but more than that we feel so lucky to have been joined by some wonderful people and birders who want to share the joy - thank you for coming and making this feel so worthwhile 🥹

We can’t wait for the next one…👀🥹💜 by @ryeharbournr

Have you spotted the new visitors at Rye Harbour Nature Reserve?

We love the installations by local artist, Beverley Drury.

Beverley has made five sculptures of birds that can be found at the reserve. Her sculptures are made from a combination of new and up-cycled materials. Each one is unique and attempts to capture the fleeting pose, behaviour and character of the bird.

You’ll find her sculptures outside the Discovery Centre, they’ll be with us through the autumn.

Can you guess which bird species they are?

A new community action group has been set up in Rye thanks to our Youth Rangers.
Five Youth Rangers recently hosted a screening of the People's Emergency Briefing at the Discovery Centre.
They all worked hard to help facilitate the screening by welcoming the attendees, supporting guests and speaking in front of the audience.
Fifty people watched the screening. There were lots of great discussions and hopeful outcomes.
It was great to hear that a Rye town councillor and another member of the audience have decided to take immediate action and set up a local community action group for Rye.
Protecting and restoring nature is a team effort, with local communities often leading the way. That's why Sussex Wildlife Trust works alongside communities to build genuine, lasting connections with the wild places on our doorsteps.
