Took a lot for me to get here. There were moments I didn’t think I’d make it… but I kept going. Through every setback, every doubt, every trial made me who I am today. Now I’m living what I once prayed for. Thank you God.

A recruiting test is one moment, not the whole picture. Rylea Alvin shares how a disappointing day of testing and a conversation about the work she put into bouncing back helped NIU feel like the right fit. There’s more to that story in the full episode. #athleticperformance by @ryleaalvin

Episode 186: ACL Injuries to D1 Volleyball How Strength Training Changed Everything.

Adam sits down with NIU middle blocker Rylea Alvin, a 6'2" “Big Dog” in the weight room who didn’t even like volleyball at first and then tore both ACLs in high school. She walks through growing up a swimmer and hooper in tiny Randolph, Wisconsin, missing a state title run from the bench, and then choosing to live in the weight room instead of feeling sorry for herself.

Tune in and enjoy the show!

Strength isn’t built in comfort it’s forged in challenges. Embrace the struggle, and persevere.
