What a London summer 🌼🌞🥂

It’s unbelievable how much has happened in just 2 months. The most amazing part of it all — apart from painting @turpsbanana — has been meeting so many old friends and making so many new ones.

I love being around nice people, and I would say that has been the real highlight of my time in London.

A huge thank you to all my friends who made the effort to travel from far away and find the time to come and see me, to everyone who came to the exhibition, and to all the friends with whom we shared good times, good conversations and good food.

I know I couldn’t fit so many of the lovely people I met during this trip into this little album of 20 photos. There are so many more memories and people that I’ll carry with me.

Feeling very grateful for this London summer. ❤️ by @ryzbee

Preview: 11 September, from 6pm onwards at Turps Gallery, London

It’s hard to believe that it’s already been seven weeks of ‘intensely’ working at the Turps studio, surrounded by a wonderful group of talented artists and tutors.

It’s been an incredible journey of learning, exchanging ideas, making work, partying, and going out together to see some amazing summer exhibitions and museums across London.

We’re now in our final week of making before we put together an exhibition that opens next week.

I would absolutely love to see all my friends who are in London or visiting London. It’s going to be a great show, with work by many wonderful artists, and a lovely opportunity to meet them.

So, save the date — 11 September, from 6pm onwards — and come enjoy the exhibition with us!

Isaiah Zagar was my first true art teacher and mentor. I met him in 2001–02, just after graduating from Banaras Hindu University, at a time when I was completely lost—confused and without direction.

The story of how our paths crossed is long and beautiful. What followed were years of learning, working alongside him on several art projects in Philadelphia. In 2003, I had the privilege of living with him and Julia Zagar at their home in Philly, working on several public art projects across the city.

Isaiah was not only an exceptional artist but an extraordinary human being. He didn’t just introduce me to the world of art and artists—thanks to him I got a deeper understanding of what it truly means to be an artist. His passion for his art made a big impact on me.

Today, as I hear of his passing, I look back at the time I spent with him. He was one of the few people I hold in the highest regard, someone to whom I owe more than I can ever express.

He lived a full and magnificent life, and the legacy he leaves behind will continue to inspire generations. I will carry his lessons, his generosity, and his spirit with me always.

Much love to Julia & the Zagar family 🌼🩵
