hiiiii it’s been a long time since I’ve put any poetry out into the world, so I figured it was time- have a series of haikus, as a treat! I’m really happy with how these turned out, especially with it being the first project I’ve taken on digitally illustrating 🥹

this month I had my last inpatient chemo, a cheeky emergency surgery, many nights spent laughing so hard my tummy hurt, so many garden hauls, a ridiculous amount of tattoo appointments, good scan results and an overwhelming sense that although things are bad, life still feels beautiful and exciting and full of opportunity by @s.ummer

a permanent dome decoration!!

the mayapple plant is used to create etopiside, one of the chemotherapies that I’ve been given over the past few months. it also just so happens to have beautiful flowers.

this idea started as a “fuck you for taking my hair, I’ll do something pretty to make up for it” and slowly became a tribute to etopiside itself. the tattoo is now a “thank you” for giving me more time on this earth with the people I love.

speaking of people I love- this lovely tattoo was done by the incredible @alybrookeart. there is no one else I’d trust with a piece like this. ♥️ by @s.ummer

new substack just dropped and I’m really proud of this one!

“I saw my cause of death and it was beautiful” is about my experience going to the pathology lab and witnessing my tissue samples from my various surgeries under the microscope. looking my cancerous cells dead in the face was absolutely wild.

I have some snippets in these slides (with my cancerous cells as the background), but feel free to read it in all it’s glory at the link in my bio. by @s.ummer

a late may dump is better than no may dump at all 🙂‍↕️ a month spent in and out of bc cancer (healing, sleeping, and laughing so loud we thought we’d be thrown out) but ALSO in the garden, on the couch with the cats, in my flowery little neighbourhood, in the kitchen baking and in a cozy home visited by pals I adore ✨♥️ by @s.ummer
