Northwest Montana friends. It’s time to think gardens and orchards and put in orders for trees, bees and seeds. I’m going to put in a tree order from a nursery in Wisconsin. If you want to get some trees and save on shipping, get in the bus. #vegetableprison2025 by @s_clemens

When I started working at the dam I quickly realized I had very big shoes to fill and a legacy to carry on. The first operator at Hungry Horse Dam was Pat McVay. Not only was Pat an incredible operator, he was a stalwart in the community AND he pioneered @montanafwp’s Hunter Education Program. I’m told the number students he taught to safely handle a firearm exceeds ten thousand. I consider myself lucky to carry on Pat’s work both at the dam and as a Hunter Ed instructor teaching the next generation safety and a conservation ethos. #huntereducation @montanabha @sportingleadfree by @s_clemens

Reconstituting morel mushrooms in pot roast gravy. Not at all photogenic, but oh so important. Without going through great efforts to do so, this meal happens to be free of the grocery store with the exception of the salt, pepper, bay leaves, thyme and red wine. The roast is from a whitetail doe (a memorable day with great people), the root vegetables and elk stock are gifts from dear friends, the garlic is this year’s garden crop and the morels were foraged over a couple days with some of my favorite people on the planet. @hal.herring says it best, but I’m going to keep repeating it. Meat for the table, food for the soul. by @s_clemens

It’s Labor Day. Again. This is your annual reminder to thank the folks in this country that do the actual work to provide your necessities and luxuries. Thank the farmers, builders, utility workers, transportation workers, textile workers and on and on for working their fingers to the bone to provide you a comfortable life. Today is for them. by @s_clemens

Today marks the fourth year that Eleanor has participated in the @flatheadriversalliance cleanup. It makes me so proud that she owns the responsibility to take care of the resources in her backyard. She is fully aware of why it’s important to leave it better than we found it and that #itsnotoursitsjustourturn. by @s_clemens
