It’s taken us a few days to soak in what being named #2 in the country at the @cntravellerindia Top Restaurant Awards really means to us.

This is much more than a number. It’s a recognition of consistency — showing up, day after day, and delivering an experience that people want to return to. And that is only possible because so many of our team have been with us for over a decade. They believe in the vision we set out with 16 years ago, and have cared for this restaurant as if it were their own.

So this one is for all the familiar faces who make The Table feel like home. YOU GUYS KICK ASS!!

I said there would be more significant numbers coming…

Fifteen. Numbers go up. Numbers go down. I’m learning not to confuse either with winning or losing. Especially this year.

But this little restaurant. This stubborn, hungry, demanding thing that Pallavi and I built has developed a mind of its own. It has its own pulse. Its own people. Its own place in the world.

And somewhere amidst all the madness of this past year, I get to look at NĀVU and realise that we’ve made something that has become so much bigger than us.

Fifteen. And I’m proud of her.

And what a bloody good night! Old friends, new faces, and the rare pleasure of seeing so many people from this wonderfully mad industry in one room. A huge thank you to Divia Thani, Salil Deshpande and the entire Condé Nast Traveller team for one hell of an evening. And for giving all of us who spend our lives feeding people a fantastic excuse to get dressed up and party!

A story leapt off the pages on to the plate. This week, Delhi got a taste of modern Meghalayan cuisine at the lovely @theleelapalacenewdelhi. The table by Mai Stories was a creative interpretation of Meghalaya’s terroir. The handthrown black clay pottery by Dakti Craft was created by artisans from the villages West Jaintia Hills. The cocktails by Shad Skye Shillong had some strong local inspiration (Bitchi Sour, FTW!). The six-course dinner by Hammarsing and team at Rynsan Shillong showed exactly why it made it to the Top Restaurant Awards last year! And, Tipriti (@lilmamatips), wow!

Many thanks to the Chief Minister Conrad Sangma @conrad_k_sangma and his team for helping us create this experience in Delhi. Meghalaya is showing how indigenous culture can meet the world on its own terms!

The cars were gorgeous, of course. But the best part of The Oberoi Concours d’Elegance (@theoberoiconcours) was being around people who know such a lot and care so very much about a thing. Chats about leathers and number plates and knobs and dials and backseat bars and chessboards and a Maharaja who wouldn't trade his wheels for anything less than the Kohinoor... Worse ways to spend a weekend.
