🎉 AAAAH I can't believe The Strongest Heart received another starred review, this time from The Horn Book, which calls it "a raw portrayal of the pain, confusion and hurt of a memorable teenager."
💚
I'm blown away by the support this story keeps getting from all corners, and in a way it's a bittersweet victory because my younger self and my family decades ago would have done anything to be seen like this, to be supported like this. Still, it's a victory to finally have a platform to talk about mental health issues not just for my past self but for kids and families today 💚

In Austin for a college tour, and reminded of the fact that UT Austin students are some of the most accomplished in the state, and they don't deserve the crap being spewed at them from certain quarters. So much Texas pride (and football excitement) on the streets this weekend! by @saadiafaruqi

☀️ Aaah another lazy Sunday soaking up the sunshine! My cat isn't happy that I'm snapping pics while she's trying to nap, but she's tolerating me for now because she lurrrrrves me 😂
Note the last slide with that big paw extended, as if she's warning me to stop it now 💙 by @saadiafaruqi

Today is the 25th anniversary of 9/11. As we honor those who lost their lives to senseless violence, please also remember that Muslim Americans bore the brunt of the backlash both in society as well as legally. Friends and neighbors became the enemy, the government enacted laws based on fear mongering and bias. And it hasn't gotten any better. Our kids, who were not even alive then, still face prejudice in schools.
💟
Yusuf Azeem Is Not A Hero came out 5 years ago, but the message is still extremely relevant. If you're looking for authentic storytelling about Muslim Americans in the aftermath of the attacks, both in 2001 and today, I hope you pick up this book. Yusuf is a 6th grader but this book is for all ages! by @saadiafaruqi

🎉 Another graphic novel is out in the world today!! Creepy ghost stories, a haunted mansion, jump scares and friendship. All this and more in Don't Be Scared, now out in hardcover, paperback and ebook!
✨️ Riz Choudhry lives for two things: movies and anything spooky. His dad? Not so much. While Riz dreams of filmmaking and jump scares, his father dreams of Riz going to med school or law school—and neither one includes ghosts. But the film club is Riz’s safe haven, a place where other supernatural-obsessed first-gen kids swap scary stories from their cultures. So, when the group decides to film a documentary about the creepy old mansion in town, Riz is all in. But there’s a problem. His dad wants Riz to quit the club. AND the building is about to be demolished. Now Riz and his friends must use the power of filmmaking to save the mansion…before it vanishes forever.
✨️ Illustrated by the incredible @shadiaminart who couldn't have done a better job bringing Riz, his Baba, his friends and all the ghosts to life! Also, my editor @artbysamiafakih is amazing and I'm delighted to have worked with her for another project. I never know what I'm doing but she always guides me so gently. Finally, thank you to @01firstsecond for being a home for me. They've also published my first graphic novel Saving Sunshine. by @saadiafaruqi
