World AbilitySport Games Results 🇹🇭

What a comp! NGL, the build-up to this had me super anxious (and probably a bit of a menace to everyone around me), but damn, this was a good one!

This one came with a few personal bests:

SABRE 🗡️
- 3 wins out of 5 in pools - my best pool performance so far
- Finished 26th of 41
- Made it to DEs, where I faced #12 in Men’s Cat A Sabre, Kwong. Scored 3 clean points before being eliminated.
- Did collect a few too many red cards in pools, which cost me matches... something I’ll be working on (tips welcome 👀).

ÉPÉE 🗡️
- 2 wins out of 6 in pools
- Finished 44th of 56
- Reached DEs for the first time in Épée, where I got absolutely destroyed by #24 Shenfeld. No sugar-coating that one.
- Cutting myself some slack, I’ve only been doing Épée for less than a year, and it’s brutal on my core. More work ahead!

WORLD RANKINGS 🌍
Sabre: 50 → 48
Épée: 84 → 78
Slow and steady.

A massive thank-you to the event staff and volunteers who made this competition possible, and to the people who keep me moving forward:
Coach Alex Andre @sydney_para_fencing
Luke Bowen @ssep01
Brent Kirkbride @sydneywestsportsmedicine
Tim Rodgers @nswinstituteofsport
Sophie from @advancerehabcentre
@cairotakeaway for the killer mask decal and support
@wildwestwheelchairs for getting my new chair ready in time

Plus all my family, friends, and communities cheering me on. I couldn’t have done this without you all 💚

Much work to be done! On to the next one! 🫡

Asian Championships 2024 Nakon Ratchasima 🇹🇭 ✅️

What an incredible journey at my debut international competition! I'm thrilled to have had this experience and can't wait to continue improving and climbing the ranks, aiming higher than my current rank of 63 in Cat A sabre worldwide. 🌏

A massive shoutout to the amazing individuals who made this possible, preparing me for the Asian Championships held in Thailand:

Firstly, a huge thanks to Andrew from @northsidesportsphysio ,without his help, I wouldn't have been able to manage my neck injury. He's been an absolute lifesaver. 🫡

To my Coach Alex @academy_nsw_sabre , your constant encouragement and reminders to stay focused have been invaluable. I'm committed to giving you an even better performance next time! 🤺

A special mention to Luke from @ssep01 for getting me into shape in such a short time frame for Thailand. 🏋️‍♂️

To my incredible team, @penny.elliot and @digitalgodess , thank you for giving it your all at our debut in the Asian Championships. Your support means everything. Along with the rest of the team @melly_bee__ , @lucyw_makeup , and Tina for cheering us on from home. 🫂

To my friends and family, your unwavering support and encouragement have been my driving force. A huge thank you to my Father for ingeniously crafting the fencing chair in less than a week! 🙌

و تشکر ویژه از خاله عدی عزیزم برای دعاهای مخصوصش 🥰

Last but not least, a big shoutout to @westsydacademy for providing the much-needed equipment. Your support has been invaluable on this journey. 🖖

My next goal is to prepare for competing in Italy this November! 🇮🇹 Bring it on! 💪🏆

Thrilled to have competed in Pisa for my second international Wheelchair Fencing competition! 🇮🇹

It was an incredible experience meeting para-athletes from all over the world and training with the Italian team in Roma and at the Centro di Preparazione Olimpica di Tirrenia.

Watching how the Italians operate was truly inspiring, and I hope one day we can create similar opportunities in Australia.

While there were ups and downs, including frustrations with categorization, each moment was a learning opportunity. Grateful for the journey and ready for the next challenge! 😤

Even though the results in Pools and DE didn’t quite go as planned, I’m proud to have climbed the rankings in Men's Cat A Sabre - from 63rd in my debut competition to 53rd! I also achieved an official ranking in my second weapon, Épée, which I just started 3 months ago, coming in at 109th. 💪

A huge thank you to my coach Alex Andre, the Western Sydney Academy of Sport, my team, friends, family, my EP Luke, physio Brent, and everyone who supported me along the way. Your encouragement kept me grounded both mentally and physically throughout this journey. Your support means the world to me! 🫂

Lil cool update that I forgot to share 🫣

On July 19th, our para fencing team got to take part in Sydney's Intervarsity competition for the first time. It was also the first time we’ve been able to pull off a teams event!

Decided to rep @jmcacademy and put them on the map in the fencing world and somehow we managed to come 2nd!!! 🥈 Not too shabby!

Been a lot less sport content on here for a hot minute. Fear not! There are some exciting prospects to work towards 👀

For now, I’m just focusing on training both at fencing and the gym and hopefully I’ll let you all know what I’ve got planned... once I figure it all out 🤪

Big thanks to @sydneyintervarsityfencing for organising this and giving the para team a go! Excited to be back for more, and especially to take part in the epee comp.

big thanks to @cursedwyvernn and @sara.fardi for capturing some snaps of us 📸
