30s of calm 🤍

There is no such day as an ugly weather in nature. Rain splashing on leaves, or scarily crashing waves - whatever it is, it’s beautiful. Our task and sometimes a challenge is to understand the beauty out there.

This day, the silver sea had islands floating on it like clouds. Have a peaceful weekend!

Wednesday wonders:

The world was silent and serene.

The view from my tent door just before going to sleep. When summiting a mountain overnight, I’m usually hesitant to pitch the tent in such an exposed site, but this time there was no wind.

Monday Musings:

For years I’ve been fascinated with the sea horizon: such a simple line, stretching from one end of the vast view to the other, yet it never shows itself looking exactly the same. The light is different, the waves are different, the colours are different.

The sea is one of the best places for minimalist, reduced photography. This week I post two summer night pictures from Suvisaaristo, Finland and next Monday two winter daytime pictures to compare.

It’s always a little frightening to take my camera equipment out on the sea in my kayak, but so far (touch wood) I’ve never toppled over! 🌊

Himachal Pradesh, India, February 2020.

As the world was about to enter a new era, the Himalayan state was following a dual time - one influenced by humans, one by the mountains. Within the disputed borderland between India and Tibet, life existed sandwiched between the two superpowers. We drew past a military base, strategically placed far enough from the border. Only one road led towards Tibet. The cultures existed more harmoniously: one temple could host both Buddhist mandalas and Hindi gods. Shimla, the regional capital used to be the British summer capital. It was surreal to find an Anglican Church and Victorian buildings in the Himalayan setting. It was a place of co-existence of nature and humans, of layers of time and cultures. And not all co-existence was easy. by @saaralindahl

Light curls up in a cup and dances with leafs. As I revere the sweetness of gifted fruit, I escape the tight clutches of stress. by @saaralindahl

Picking my micro crop of tea in the garden. I picked after 8am and then left the tea to wither under the sun, turning them over once before continuing the withering inside. I’m interested in having a slow withering process, taking a couple of days before the tea dries entirely. This increases the oxidation, which again affects the taste. Will I have the patience to age them, or will I try this year? by @saaralindahl

Yushu upcoming Tea Event @yushu_archive

Jade Notes – Tea Ceremony

Yushan, the Jade Mountain, is a small cultivation area for Taiwanese high mountain tea. The forest of the national park limits the tea production, but in return gifts pure air, water and soil. The purity of nature also manifests in the tea makers, who have a pureness of spirit rarely encountered elsewhere. With this one-time tea ceremony, I want to share three special teas from the Xinmao tea farm where I followed the making of fragrant oolong.

The teas are carefully matched with Ziyan’s tea wares and get served together with artisan tea sweets crafted by Jiaqi.

Please join us on 13th March, 12pm at Yushu Tea Gallery

£58/person, 6 seats available
Booking through our website linked at the bio or send us a message and please message us if you have any questions.

Sea sausages!

Our Town production over in Llandudno, it was time to witness another type of a drama some hundred meters away from the theatre.

A moment of calm

The autumn arrived last week. The falling rain makes you lower your attention to the earth. Mushrooms emerge and the comfortable smells of soil fill the clean air. Yet, as many deplore this change of seasons from summer into autumn, nature always shows its capacity to stay at its most beautiful.

Have a lovely start of autumn my friends! by @saaralindahl

Sea and rain form rock pools by the shore. They are natural aquariums, enclosing a mini ecosystem within. All sort of strange creatures habit these small waterbodies - such as this staring pupa, which was about to metamorphose.
