SaaRii turns 3 today! 🎉 Three years ago, at 50, I finally took a chance on a dream I’d carried for nearly 30 years when I launched SaaRii. I was terrified, but I did it anyway! Today, at 53, I’m still learning, still dreaming, and just getting started! To this incredible SaaRii community, thank you for believing in me and making this journey so special. If my story proves anything, it’s that it’s NEVER too late to chase your dreams! Here’s to many more beautiful years together! 🥂❤️ With love, Sujata by @saariinyc
A little bit about the process from conception to production.. Mood board: Once I had the vision for SaaRii, I translated my ideas through a visual mood board. The textural beauty of saris and the dimensional quilting patterns were my starting point. Fabric sourcing: India is a diverse country with numerous regions, and each region has its own unique style of saris. There were so many stunning weaving techniques, motifs, patterns and colors to choose from. Fabric sourcing was definitely a bit of a challenge. Sketching: While staying true to my brand ethos of being timeless and effortless wardrobe staples, I made sure to incorporate special details to make them unique. Tech-packs: This was a time consuming but critical part of the process, because a strong tech-pack can significantly reduce the prototyping process. Fitting: I fit the first protos on my friend / fit model Diana @fitmodelny whose expertise really improved the look of the sales samples. Photo-shooting: Finding the right photographer and models took time, but I’m thrilled with the outcome. @raashidesai_ @anikachuu @jueedesai @afrinaraziatrina Branding / Marketing: I am so grateful for my friend Marissa @mariashaelyasi who has been patiently helping me understand social media marketing and business development for SaaRii as this is completely new territory for me. I have so much to learn and so much more to do before I launch. Did I mention that I’m doing all this at the age of 50? I am finally daring to take a chance at a lifelong dream. Stay tuned for more of my second act entrepreneurial journey! #newbrandlaunching #supportsmallbusiness #southasianfashion #secondactwomen #sarisofindia #newyorkdesigners #fashionmood #fashionsketch #womanownedsmallbusiness by @saariinyc
Hello and welcome to the SaaRii community! I’m Sujata, the founder and designer of SaaRii. Creating this brand from scratch, since I had the idea of designing South Asian inspired outerwear, has been quite a rewarding journey. SaaRii is truly a one woman operation. From design and product development to content creation, customer service, and marketing, every piece of the brand is thoughtfully managed by me. While it can feel overwhelming at times, I’m incredibly grateful for the support of my family, friends, and this wonderful community who continue to cheer me on through your orders, encouragement, and kind messages. Thank you for supporting my vision of creating timeless, ageless, and seasonless designs inspired by South Asian heritage. Your love and support mean the world to me, and I can’t wait to share what’s next. With gratitude, Sujata Founder & Designer, SaaRii by @saariinyc

Heritage, reimagined. ✨ There’s something so special about the textiles and jewelry we grew up loving. The richness of Indian brocades, the beauty of intricate jewelry, and the memories and traditions they carry. This festive season, I’m excited to bring together SaaRii’s modern heritage pieces with beautiful 92.5 sterling silver jewelry @soraya_silver A celebration of our roots, our stories, and the joy of expressing who we are through what we wear. Not traditional. Not Western. Beautifully in between. ❤️ by @saariinyc
A little update on your SaaRii preorders. I know many of you have been waiting patiently, and I’m truly sorry your pieces are taking longer than expected, especially if you were hoping to wear them for a special celebration. Monsoon disruptions, worker absences, and power outages have affected production across my three manufacturing partners. I’m personally in touch with them every day, checking on your orders and following each one closely. I’m actively monitoring progress and doing everything I can to bring your pieces to you as soon as possible. The skilled tailors making your pieces are taking the time and care your SaaRii order deserves. I’m still waiting for confirmed shipping dates, but I’ll share an update with you the moment I have one. Behind this small business is me, someone who genuinely cares about your order and the trust you’ve placed in SaaRii. Thank you so much for your patience, kindness, and understanding. It truly means a lot to me. ❤️ Sujata Founder & Designer, SaaRii by @saariinyc
Anika @anikachuu recently reached out to me because, as a proud first generation South Asian immigrant, she wanted to celebrate her heritage on a very special evening. She chose our Benarasi brocade Rani Blazer as a featured presenter at the prestigious 43rd Annual Frank N. Stanton Award Dinner, honoring Bill from @HorizonMediaInc. Moments like these are exactly why I created SaaRii, to celebrate our cultural roots while embracing who we are today. Thank you, Anika, for making Rani part of such a meaningful evening! ❤️ by @saariinyc
Here we go…. I choose to be in my own element… unapologetically unique, because fitting into the usual was never really my thing! I’m a last minute shopper, a spontaneous stylist, and someone who somehow pulls it all together at the very last moment! 😄 IYKYK And voila! I show up, stand tall, and own it with confidence… because that’s just ME! 💃❤️ Wearing an amazing outfit just apt for casual styling and business esthetic with Indian artisanal fabric from the house of @saariinyc . Sujata has a great eye for fashion design and these are her amazing masterpieces. And this Kala blazer is one such beauty. Styled it with the intricate jewelry from @houseofrial who just make you standout with the best esthetics for that extra bling one may need. 💎 @houseofrial 🧥 @saariinyc #blazer #casual #chic #styling events by @saariinyc

Never underestimate the power of a good blazer! A blazer that makes you feel confident, comfortable, and completely yourself can make all the difference, especially when you’re speaking on a panel. Seeing our Kala blazer shine in such a meaningful moment at your conference makes my designer heart so happy! Thank you, Sanyo @sanyoshamsunder for your order and for sharing this.❤️ by @saariinyc
Sharing the most beautiful Indo Western moment 💗 Loved seeing the Raina skirt come alive at an event celebrating Maharashtrian culture, rooted in tradition, yet styled in such a fresh, modern way by Parul @parulkumarofficial This is SaaRii to me: heritage, worn your way. ✨ by @saariinyc
Such a special SaaRii moment 💗 Nicki @palliativecaredoc and Shruti @shrutipatelmd wearing the Rani blazer and Raina skirt at the Docfluencer MDO Conference in Manhattan, celebrating community, advocacy, and our Indian heritage in a modern way. Thank you both for representing SaaRii so beautifully. Moments like these mean so much to a small independent brand. by @saariinyc
