Meet Georgina co-founder of the SA Art Fair Studio. I’m Georgina, one of the co founders of the SA Art Fair Studio. I’ve been working for 20 years as a psychotherapist. People have taught me so much. Connection with other humans is a primal need. Primal needs mustn’t be ignored as they are vital. Without deep human connection we can feel isolated & alone. Your brain is wired to avoid this and draws us towards connection. But it’s not always easy. It is this knowing that led me to team up with Bianca who also has a passion for community. To create something where people can come together to share, connect, laugh, nurture and be uplifted and celebrated by your fellow community. But why art? Well, this is another lesson I have learnt from my clients & my own therapy journey. Our gut feel is everything. Our gut feel should guide us. Sometimes we lose our way as we bypass it or over ride it. Creating art brings us back to ourselves. Every single decision you make in art comes from within. No outside noise, no distraction. It’s a neural pathway you can create to help you out in the real world. The safer and more nurturing our studio is, the safer you feel and the more the more your muscle grows. So there you have it. This is not just an art class. It’s a larger part of your inner and outer well being & life journey. Our first life drawing workshop was such a heart warming reminder of this beautiful creative community we have at The Studio. Despite the wild weather last night, we had a packed studio, a wonderful life drawing model and all facilitated by our highly experienced teacher Susan Orpen. Looking around the room last night watching students of all different skill levels (from complete beginners to fine art degree holders!) create such incredible charcoal works, it was wonderful see our creative eco system in full swing! Thank you to everyone who joined us and we can’t wait to host the next members workshop soon! by @saartfair

Georgina always says that the studio is about community and connection and art is the medium. And we think that sums it up perfectly. We love watching strangers become friends. Seeing people arrive at their weekly class, put the outside world aside for a couple of hours, chat, make something with their hands, and leave feeling a little lighter, happier and more inspired. Because making art is wonderful. But making art together is something else entirely. And we know that not everyone can make a morning class. So, this spring, we’re opening up the studio a little more. From the beginning of October, we’ll be introducing three new evening and Saturday classes giving more of you a chance to find your people, make some art and become part of the Studio community.
