“Cozy” and “One of Them Days: for Nnenna” are now in view in the Howard University Gallery of Art’s 91st Student Exhibition. 🤎

I am grateful and honored to be a part of this exhibition alongside my incredibly talented peers. I have always dreamed of having a piece on display in the Howard Gallery, where the work of so many people that I’ve looked up to has also been. Thank you to everyone who came to support!

New Growth🤎🌱

2024 has blessed me with so many opportunities, challenges, and moments for growth. One of the things I am most proud of is New Growth, the first group exhibition I’ve curated. Not only was I able to celebrate the talents of 20 Black artists, but I also had the privilege of sharing their stories of growth with the community. The conversations, the connections, the laughs, the hugs—words can’t fully describe how grateful I am for all of it. 🤎

Thank you to every single person who came that night. Thank you to all of the artists who trusted me with their work! Thank you to my friends and family who helped bring New Growth to life—from the flyers that were designed, to the food that was made, the music that was played, and the photos that were taken. There was so much love involved, and for that, I am endlessly grateful.

Extra thank you to @jazzy.drew.it.llc who was the photographer, videographer, curatorial assistant, artist bio flyer maker,etc etc🫶🏾 And a big big thank you to @pho.eee.nix @sela.sims @davideric.2 @blvk.lite @tionneamira for everything! 🫶🏾

THIS SATURDAY!!🤗🪴🧡

So happy to say I’m curating the “What Does Your Garden Look Like?” Exhibition this Saturday at The Village in Union Market 7-10pm. It explores artists’ interpretations of their “garden”. A garden could be the people, places, and/or things that nurture, sustain, and motivate you. It’s accompanying the debut screening of a short documentary film titled “From His Garden”, created by BBRB and Phillip More. It highlights Curtis Taylor, who has been serving his “garden” for over 20 years.

“Cecil Richards” (2024) | Acrylic on canvas

For my grandfather’s 80th birthday, I had the honor of painting his portrait. Capturing everything that makes him the remarkable person he is was a challenge—his generosity, faith, and dedication to the ones he loves, are just a few of the traits that inspire me. I wove in details close to his heart: his love of cricket, the warm brown when the sun hits a Red Stripe bottle, and the grey stones of St. Jude’s Church—the same church he’s taken me to ever since I was little. While I don’t often paint men, for the one of the best men I know, it felt only right. 🤍 taken in Stony Hill, Jamaica by @sachsstudio

A big thank you to @porchfestdc for the opportunity to do my first live painting at @dcartallnight! 🎨🌟

Our theme was “Let’s Dance!” and ofc the first person to come to mind was Josephine Baker, an iconic dancer and advocate for Black Arts. NBA All-Star Weekend 2024 🌟

Things have been moving so fast and I still can’t believe this happened. Last month I had the opportunity of creating a piece inspired by Howard experience for the NBA All-Star x HBCU Student Art Showcase. So thankful for the amazing artists I experienced this with and the NBA family! I’m also so so grateful for all the people who inspired this piece🤍
