On June 18, we join communities around the world in recognizing Sustainable Gastronomy Day, a day established by the United Nations General Assembly to celebrate the important role food plays in sustainable development, cultural preservation, and community well-being.

Sustainable gastronomy is about more than what is on our plates—it recognizes the connections between food production, local economies, environmental stewardship, cultural traditions, and public health. By supporting local farmers, ranchers, fishers, food producers, and small businesses, we help strengthen regional food systems while preserving culinary heritage for future generations.

This Sustainable Gastronomy Day, we encourage everyone to:
- Support local food producers and farmers markets
- Choose seasonal and locally grown foods when possible
- Reduce food waste at home and in your community
- Learn about the people and cultures behind the foods you enjoy
- Share a meal that celebrates local ingredients and culinary traditions

Together, we can create a food system that is healthy for people, supports local economies, and cares for our planet.
