Honored to be featured on @nflnetwork as the Defensive line coach at the HBCU combine in New Orleans this week!

I knew I’d be here some day.Through patience, resilience & consistency you can manifest anything you want in this life. NFL Mic’d up used to be my FAVORITE segment to watch as a child, and now the Mic’s on me. 🎙️

306 pounds. A 39-inch vertical. And he had never played organized football. 🤯

Javon Gopie tells the story of first working with Nigerian defensive lineman Uar Bernard (@uar_benard ) through the NFL International Player Pathway and realizing very quickly that he was dealing with a different level of athlete.

Bernard would go on to run a 4.63 40, jump 39 inches at 306 pounds and eventually be selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2026 NFL Draft.

From learning the game from scratch to getting an NFL opportunity.

His Disability Became His SUPERPOWER 😤

EPISODE OUT NOW!! Link in bio!

Javon opens up about growing up with dominant optic atrophy and how it impacted him on the football field.

“I played angry.”

With his vision limited, Javon says his other senses became heightened — and instead of allowing it to hold him back, he learned to use it as an advantage.

That mentality helped shape the player, coach, and pass-rush specialist he is today.

🎙️ The full Javon Gopie episode is OUT NOW on YouTube.
