Won first place for the 2026 Variant Lit Poetry Prize for “I come into the kitchen to tell you I love you” 🤍 Thank you to my hot endocrinologist and the dead bird but mostly @toddedillard. All I wanted was for you to read my work—your words mean the world to me 🤍🤍 Thank you Megan and the Variant Lit team 🤍🤍🤍 I have been waiting for this poem to exist by @sadspot

My poem “JFK, Terminal 7” from 2021 is finally out in the world, courtesy of the Poetry Society of New York’s Milk Press. To be included in such esteemed company for my first published poem in a literary journal is not something I take lightly, thank you @poetrysocietyny for your recognition. I’ve read this journal for years and I feel so lucky to now be a part of it.

Some favorites from other poets in this issue: “I am not asleep” by Lindsay Rockwell, “How to start a fire” by Jaqi Holland @jaqi.holland, “Danez Smith’s ‘Don’t Call Us Dead’ is my favorite book of poetry” by John Gavin White @john.gavinwhite, and “Cicada season” by Grace McGovern @gracemcgovie. Thanks for bringing me along. by @sadspot

Starting the NYU creative writing MFA in poetry this fall 🧎‍♀️ Feels like: house bunny, hot gilf, driver lice, an old gift, a new wish, meeting my freak, a business handshake, more head, urgency, holding my teeth, normal jester. Happy to clarify things further as needed. Excited! Xx by @sadspot
