Second only to an octopus cuttlefish have got to be one of the most intelligent creatures on the reef.. that’s such cool little critters that always seem to be checking you out as as much as you’re checking them out.

I spotted this guy when I was looking for shaun the sheep and he didn’t move the whole time. taken in Atmosphere Resorts & Spa by @saeedrashid01

Spiny seahorse (hippocampus histrix) also known as the thorny seahorse.

I do love a seahorse, but they are a pain to vote, especially when they constantly look away from you. I was very lucky with this one who turned towards me for a split second allowing me just to grab a single frame of him looking directly down the barrel of the lens. taken in Atmosphere Resorts & Spa by @saeedrashid01

Whip coral Shrimp (Dasycaris zanzibarica)

I thought I would have a go with this classic macro subject to test out my new Sony 100mm lens. Shot without any diopter and you can see the magnifying properties of this new lens.

Is it worth buying, short video review coming soon. taken in Magic Oceans Dive Resort by @saeedrashid01

The flamboyant cuttlefish (Ascarosepion pfefferi) is a tiny, highly celebrated marine cephalopod famous for its vibrant color displays

I interrupted the threesome when I was in the Philippines…

Well, it was more of a coupling with a small male trying to sneak in.. taken in Atmosphere Resorts & Spa by @saeedrashid01

Nature doesn't stop at the shoreline.

While Bunaken's reefs steal the spotlight, the island itself is just as extraordinary. Every tree, every patch of shade, and every corner of lush greenery is part of the ecosystem we're committed to protecting!🏝️

Sand diver (Trichonotus Elegans)

I’ve never really bothered trying to photograph these small slender little fish because normally as soon as you approach them they do as their name suggests, they dart into the sand. But not my last trip they were less skittish. So I managed to get this shot of a male displaying with a female behind.

Thanks to Roger for pointing them out. taken in Atmosphere Resorts & Spa by @saeedrashid01

While we were staying at Magic Ocean resort, I got quite obsessed by the amazing fan corals/gorgonians that festooned the walls there. I don’t think I’ve seen so many different species in such a small area. The colours were just astounding, I could’ve spent weeks photographing them but instead I spent a few days documenting the different colours textures.

What was weird is when we moved down a little bit, they’ve actually all disappeared. It just shows you that the ocean is so diverse.

what’s your favourite colour way? by @saeedrashid01

Zooooom💨 ….

Not only were the blue ring octopus much larger in the Philippines they were also a lot more active constantly around the Reef like they were on some crazy race. But it did give me a chance to play with a bit of motion with them.

Weedy cardinalfish (Foa Fo) - thank you @agustian_peloa for helping me with the identification. 🙏

Look at these little guys.. are only about 2 cm long, this innocuous little brown fish is easily overlooked and I’ll be honest Ive probably swam by thousands of them.. but it wasn’t till they were pointed out to me in the Philippines I saw they were these amazing Cardinal fish and like many other cardinal fish they mouth brood and we were lucky enough to spot several with eggs in their mouth. From the bright orange of a newly laid clutch till the silvery ones that are almost ready to hatch. If you look closely at those you can actually see eyes looking back at you. Just incredible.
