I still remember bumping @iambohemia ‘s “Kali Denali” in my Abbu’s 1988 Toyota Corona in Qatar on a recorded cassette. The impact this music has had on my life and my career cannot be put into words. I am glad to call this amazing human an older brother. Thank you Paaji for paving the way for so many Desi MCs and Producers. Dance always starts at the music and that is what we like to do in our classes in the Bay Area📖.

I said in my last post that we’re both learning from each other. Well, here’s my little guy teaching Dad 🥹

I’m not flexible enough to do this yet, but he was patient with me. He kept trying to help, and when I couldn’t do it, he told me to fold my legs to make it easier.

Wish he was this patient with his bedtime routine though😂

Watching him get frustrated is hard. I know how much he wants to get it right, especially when he’s trying to do what Dad does. Little guy is really hard on himself, we are both learning from each other.

Coffee with Wiggles — Part 3: From hallways to dance studios ☕️

Before Hip Hop was taught in dance studios, the hallways and lobbies of neighborhood buildings were the studios.

@mrwigglesrsc explains how he, @buddhastretch and Hot Dog were eventually invited into a formal studio by @robindunnface , who had studied and taught under the legendary Frank Hatchett at Broadway Dance Center.

That invitation helped open the door for Hip Hop—and the dancers carrying the culture—to enter formal dance studios and eventually be taught there.

I’ve been thinking a lot about what pursuing all my creative needs looks like for me now.

For a long time, I think I was trying to find my way back to how I used to create — more time, fewer interruptions, more space to just disappear into an idea.

That’s not really my life anymore.

So maybe the answer isn’t waiting for that version of life to come back.

Maybe it’s learning how to create inside the life I have now.

This was one of those little windows.

PS. This is not Ai. I have a whole video editing, direction side that I have not had the time to work on .. yet

💬 Part 1. Thank you for being here with me for over a decade now (for some of you). 🙏🏾
I’m figuring out what I want to do next on here, and it will likely be different from what you originally followed me for. It’s time to make space for who I am now.
There will still be teaching and content I enjoy creating, along with plenty of dad life moments. You might also see weeks of nothing while I focus on what’s important to me—and, of course, dance, because that’s just a part of who I am.
I know you have evolved too. This change may not be what you signed up for, and I completely understand. by @saffatt
