Five years ago, I wrote, produced, and performed My Bollywood Jukebox, a show that shared the history and stories of Indian immigrants & their children through a Bollywood soundtrack.

Given what a cornerstone the intercollegiate Desi dance competition scene was in my own experience and that of thousands of others, of course it made it into the show, along with a nod of collegiate rivalry :)

Immerse yourself even more into this world by watching @hasanminhaj and @prashanthvenkat Best of the Best on Netflix and @smritimundhra Bollywood Dance U on YouTube.

Thank you @clorway and Laura Evans for bringing me back to producing post shutdown with this one-night only show.

Thank you to all! I’d say more, but maybe “Here We Go” was best described here:

“The song’s invitation to show up, face one another, sing, and participate in life feels timely without sacrificing its playful spirit. Its accompanying San Francisco video, featuring dynamic choreography and energetic movement, further reinforces the central idea of breaking free from screens and embracing shared experiences.”

What do you hope the future brings? Share one of your aspirations with us - step right up and join this merry band!

I hope this new song, “Here We Go” will lift people up and help us come together!

NEXT FRIDAY - August 14th at 12 Noon ET (9am PT) the "Here We Go" video will go live on YouTube, and many of the AMAZING people who worked on it will be on hand to chat and celebrate! JOIN US! (link in bio)

I wrote this song when I had Covid (I got it late), envisioning the time when we could once again twist and shout and get on down together. @calebgilbreath rocks drums, @caseydriessen sets the fiddle on fire, and @andyhallmusic kills it on the dobro. The beautiful and talented @zahara.is.me takes us to church with her sparkling vocal improv!
@_amitdances & @ishika_dance of the Ishami Dance Company choreograph and direct the music video, assembling the 10 most soulful and creative dancers in the San Francisco Bay Area! @honnafzal brings it to life with her videography and editing!

One year since we premiered “Manchapravesh,” our production that takes inspiration from Odissi Indian classical dance while celebrating queer alternatives. We premiered this work last year to sold-out houses at @dancemissiontheater with support from @wattisfoundation @zellerbachfamilyfoundation @worldartswest

We look forward to sharing excerpts from “Manchapravesh” in the future, and returning to this work in full.
