We built Thorvald to solve real problems in agriculture. Today, TIME named it one of the Best Inventions of 2026.

Thorvald works autonomously through vineyards and soft fruit crops at night, using precisely delivered UV-C light to suppress powdery mildew and other diseases, helping growers reduce fungicide use while moving toward a more efficient, resilient way of farming.

And this isn’t a prototype.

In 2026 alone, Thorvald protected thousands of acres of California vineyards and treated an estimated 30% of the UK’s tabletop strawberry production.

This recognition from TIME is an extraordinary milestone for Saga Robotics and, more importantly, recognition of what can happen when robotics, agronomy and grower experience come together to solve some of agriculture’s biggest challenges.

To our team, our growers, our customers, our research partners and everyone who has helped bring Thorvald from an idea to technology working commercially in the field: thank you.

We’re incredibly proud of how far we’ve come.

From research to real farms, and now to wider adoption.

Saga Robotics has been selected as a robotics developer partner in HARVEST, one of eight new UK Robotics Adoption Hubs chosen from 74 applications nationwide.

Led by @unilincoln HARVEST brings together £7.1 million in total investment to help agriculture and food businesses test and adopt robotics in real operating environments.

Our work with the Lincoln Institute for Agri-Food Technology began in 2017. Today, Thorvald treats approximately 30% of the UK’s tabletop strawberries, using UV-C light at night to control mildew and reduce the need for fungicide sprays.

We will bring what we have learned from reliable, full-season commercial deployment to HARVEST, helping more businesses put proven agricultural robotics to work.

It all happened in Kent this week! On Tuesday, we demoed Thorvald to Soren Bjorn and the @@driscollsberry team, discussing how Clock House Farm has benefited from using Thorvald and exploring future possibilities for agricultural robotics on a large scale.

On Wednesday, we exhibited at Fruit Focus, showcasing a few of our robots who took a well-deserved break after a busy night shift at 9 leading farms across the UK. 🇬🇧 🍓

Thank you to everyone who visited our stand and engaged in meaningful discussions on how technology can lead to a healthier, safer, and more sustainable approach to food production.
